"Good hotel, very convenient"

"Staff on reception are welcoming and friendly. Sadly my room was not cleaned, despite leaving early and returning later, and sign still on door. Day of checkout male cleaner entered my room whilst I was getting ready- not acceptable at all. Lifts are dirty and need a good clean. Food in the restaurant overpriced and very poor quality."

"I loved this hotel. It was convenient and safe for a single traveler. Unfortunately though I struggled to sleep due to other guests being loud in the hallways, especially in the middle of the night. Mornings were equally noisy, not sure if it's because of thin walls. The free shuttle isn't free."

"The hotel was functional, all the basics were there, not luxuriously glamourous, but I don't want that. It was all clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, but the self-service area was too small for such crowds of people, especially for wheelchair users who were having difficulty to manoeuvre in the narrow space. I arrived at 1.00am, late due to train holdups, and would have liked something to eat, but there were no snacks available. I enjoyed my stay, and would stay again."

"Very difficult to find your way around the hotel, we struggled to find reception when we turned up. Gym and pool were nice and rooms were nice and big, the room felt like a 5 minute walk away from the bar and reception areas. Breakfast buffet was poor, arrived at 9:30am and everything has been sat there a while and was stale and cold."

"We stayed in a family room and to be honest it was completely run down. There were water stains on the walls which looked like there was a leak. Only 2 out of 4 of the lights worked. And the 2 that did had different coloured bulbs in. The bathroom was clean however the bath panel was awful and needed replacing and the shower was a nightmare to try and work. The room overall really needs updating. We felt like because it was a family room it had just been out at the back of the hotel and neglected. Breakfast was okay. They had our jam out instead of ketchup and the eggs were very greasy. We wouldn’t return which is such a shame as the hotel itself looks lovely as soon as you walk in."

"A lovely historic building, looks great from the outside but, on closer inspection, in need to significant refresh / maintenance update to get up to the standard that one would expect for a Champneys branded site. Main issues ( which were very evident ) were chipped / scuffed paintwork on most external and also internal doors ; very thin walls with no soundproofing, meaning that one could hear conversations from people passing the room ; lack of Air Conditioning ( in this day and age ! ) ; lack of hot water, meaning that taking a decent bath was not possible."
