We booked this property for two nights, almost a year in advance of a wedding we were attending. We were bitterly disappointed with the cleanliness and quality is service, particularly given the positive reviews given by previous guests. Our room was classed as deluxe. It was not our interpretation of this standard. When we entered, it was like walking into a freezer as it was so cold. There were brown stains on the bathroom floor, an electric towel rail had been repaired with gaffer tape around the wiring. A chip in the sink had been filled with silicone. The mirror was filthy as were the two plastic beakers. The large mirror in the hall was so old it had blown and did not reflect images. It was also filthy. No water was provided. We were expected to collect water & milk from a shared dispenser and use vile plastic beakers to drink from. The dressing table mirror was lifted from the desk to reveal white powder and copious amounts of dust. It had not been cleaned for a very long time. When we reported the issues to the receptionist, she was rude, dismissive and patronising. The manager eventually attended. He agreed that housekeeping was not an acceptable standard and removed the beakers and sent for clean glasses. He said he didn't know gaffer tape on wiring was a fire. Hazard. The receptionist showed us an alternative room. It was dark, tiny and had a bath but no shower. We refused it. We were not given any apologies verbally or in writing. We are taking this further.
