The best location ever! It is literally right out front of the square, where there is a daily flea market. It is within walking distance of many many restaurants, shops, etc. The hotel is safe, clean, and it has free wifi. I would definitely stay here again!
Super central location, great super delux room, amazing gym views across table mountain, big breakfast, helpful staff.
If you find it difficult to sleep at night, the central location means you will he's music till 3am at the weekends.
It is located 2 blocks from the bus station, and few blocks (the other way) to V&A, and to the CCID. The city is doing a swell job of placing MANY police and security officers all around the CCID & the routes to the V&A daily from mid-morning until about 01:00 or so. This property is also close to the gay/pink district, and has safe, like...stumbling-safe, access to local pubs & nightlife. The food is excellent, and bellmen are extremely helpful and knowledgeable.

I stayed in one of the suites in the hotel and food the room of a good size and the large double bed very comfortable - the airstram trailers on the roof were very quirky but really only suitable for a short stay. As they located on the roof where the most popular bar was the bar and music tended to close early - understandably. the weekly under the stars film night was a great idea and popular with visitors to the hotel. Food was excellent and I was very pleased with the personal service received during my stay. The hotel is situated very conveniently on Long Street right in the heart of the city. A great 10 days enjoyed at the Grand Daddy - I will hopefully return in the not too distant future.
As the name describes, it is urban and super chic. Comfortable, staff is friendly, but of course you are on Long Street which can be noisy. Bring some earplugs or party all night and you will be fine. It gets quiet by 4/5 am, for sure. Great service though, and always greeting you with a smile. Complementary and delicious breakfast as well.
I stayed here 9 nights ,and the hotel is close to a lot of nice tourist attractions,or you can spin off and do a day trip on your own, nice rooms, great dinner buffets(some nights you need to ask everyday)everyone from the owner down to a bedroom maid have great attitudes and the hotel and it's staff will bend over backwards to enhance your stay at this lovely Hotel,i would recommend this hotel to family members,Friends and traveling couples,i would recommend the Tulbagh to everyone,my one and only real complaint was my i-phone kept getting the boot, but they were renovating the second floor the day i was leaving after a 9 day stay so i am sure internet will be better by then.Nice hotel in a lovely city!

I stayed for one night but it was a very comfortable stay. It's a small hotel on the first/2nd floor (so you have to walk up) but the rooms are beautifully designed and has a very homely feel. The huge bed and pillows are incredibly inviting. Smallish room, warm but there is an air-conditioner. The bathroom is spacious and the shower (with a wide powerful showerhead) is excellent. The best part is the staff. My very heavy bag was carried all the way up and the gentleman was very polite and kind. I had to check out at 3am and the lady was incredibly sweet, and was not groggy at all when I woke her up. She even carried my very heavy bag down the stairs with no complaints whatsoever. She waited till my taxi came. The staff could not have been more helpful. The location is an incredibly busy one, on the same road as the famous Mama Africa restaurant. There are plenty of bars and restaurants. Even at 3am on a Saturday night the streets were alive and looked like it was still 9pm. I would say it is a little unsafe but that's every place in South Africa at this hour. So if you like to party, this is the street for you. The management has obviously realised that the noise from the bars and restaurants can be a problem for guests at the hotel so they were in the process of installing some heavy duty triple glazed windows to keep the noise out. They even promised me a 100Zar refund because of the noise from the cconstruction! The windows will definitely help. Very comfortable
