"Nice, close to public transportation but had bugs."
I loved this hotel it was very convenient and close to public transportation. This facility is new and in very good condition. The staff is pleasant. I stayed in one of the Island room which was very nice; however, I saw bugs in the room 2 nights out of my four night stay. When I called the front desk I was asked did I take a photo and that they never heard of bugs being in the rooms before (John the Night Manager) Also, I was told that he could not move me because there were no clean rooms available and that the Day Manager would contact me but never did. When I saw the large spider in the bathroom in the middle of the night my first reaction was not to find my camara and take a picture. I just wanted it gone so I flushed it down the toilet. However, Subsequent to that, I saw another bug, not sure what it was but this time I knew to take a picture then call the front desk. Hotel staff came to my room and took a picture of the bug and left it there. No one at the One & Only addressed this issue with me at all. They acted as though it never happened. Even though I would still recommend this hotel, next time I'm in South Africa, I will give the Cape Grace a try.
Room was comfortable, but bath had something weird in sink we had to clean out. Room was just a bit smaller than we expected but still comfortable. No fan in bath and some lights in the bath didn't work. The staff were very accommodating. Car service to and from the airport was a real convenience.
Very quiet yet has lovely rooms with good size bathrooms.Staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble.Well situated if you are in Cape Town for a few days. This is the second time we have stayed there and will come back again.
