The Angel Hotel
3.0 star property
8.4 out of 10, Very good, (1149)
"Just the sort of hotel we like best! An older property with personality, but with enough modern features for comfort. Unfailingly helpful, cheerful and professional staff. We had a large, comfortable room with a view of the castle, and a lovely selection of toiletries in the bathroom. My only criticism would be that there was only sliced bread available at the otherwise very good breakfast. "

"Really lovely hotel and we had our dog with us and he loved it too. Very pet friendly, plenty of other dogs staying there. Room was spacious though there were no drawers or shelves to put your stuff in/on. Breakfast was a good mix of fruit and standard breakfast items. Staff were very friendly and helpful, check in was a breeze and Gus got a welcome pack. Can’t really think of anything negative to say about this hotel."

"Comfortable hotel located within walking distance of the Principality stadium. In light of this the cost of the room was off the scale, however, this is a practice used by all hotels in the area when an event is on. This is by far the most expensive standard hotel room i've booked. £350 for a Sunday with a view over the car park. Breakfast was good with a host to guide you. Front of house communication skills could do with some improvement. Bar staff needed to be taught how to make a pint of...

Pocket Guide: 3 Stars Hotels in Cardiff

If you’re looking for three star accommodation in and around the Cardiff area, you will find a broad selection available on Expedia. Choose to stay within the city centre and you will be well placed to explore the attractions of the city on foot. Or you might prefer to stay a little further out, in Newport, Barry, Usk, Chepstow, Bridgend, Pontypool, Cowbridge, Blackwood or Pontypridd.

If you’d like to stay in the city centre there are plenty of options, from large and well-featured hotels with every modern amenity to smaller and more intimate guesthouses and B&Bs with more of a personal touch. Whichever you choose, you can take advantage of your central location to explore the shops, restaurants, pubs and other attractions on your doorstep.

There’s no shortage of things to do and places to visit in this busy city, the largest in Wales and its capital. There are several museums where you can learn about the long history of this area, which has been inhabited by humans since Neolithic times, and many historic places to visit, including Cardiff Castle, an impressive medieval castle in the heart of the city.

Cardiff has a thriving entertainment scene, ranging from opera, ballet, musicals and live music, and the city is packed with theatres, galleries, museums, arts and music venues. Whether you’re looking for traditional or modern entertainment, in a tiny venue or a vast auditorium, you are bound to find something you like in Cardiff.

If you enjoy shopping, Cardiff is a veritable paradise that truly has something for everyone, from historic Victorian and Edwardian arcades to ultra-modern shopping centres, and from high street chain stores to interesting and unique independent shops. You can find anything and everything here, from the latest high street fashions to vintage clothing, antiques and rare vinyl records.

Further out of town you still have a wide choice of three star accommodation, from impressive country hotels to cosy guesthouses and B&Bs, and thanks to the area’s excellent public transport links you should have no difficulty getting to and from the city. The countryside around Cardiff offers some stunning views and a warm Welsh welcome, so you might like to escape the bustle of the city in the evenings.

While the city itself is packed with places to visit and things to do, you will find no shortage of attractions in the countryside that surrounds it. With castles, museums and nature reserves to visit, and a broad range of recreational activities on offer, such as walking, cycling, mountain biking, golf, sailing, parasailing and more, your holiday can be as busy as you’d like it to be.

Many hotels have their own restaurants and offer free parking, while some offer swimming pools, fitness equipment, room service and spa facilities. The majority of places also provide high speed internet access. Wherever you choose to stay, you will find that booking three star accommodation through Expedia is a reliable way to find good quality accommodation at a sensible price.
