Total peacefulness and Tranquillity
We arrived late from a very long journey from south east England so we're tired and hungry on our arrival ,Moya and her husband Mark gave us a warm welcome and we're so extremely kind making us a food parcel to make a meal out of to save us venturing out after 8pm when not many shops open or around in the village. The property was exactly how was described and for anyone wanting quiet countryside with rolling hills as a view ,you won't be disappointed. The beauty is you are completely remote away from the hustle and bustle but only a 25 minute journey away from Whitby and other more busier towns and places to visit .The owners left us to our own devices which was appriciated but also were there if anything needed or any problems arose . Gorgeous scenery
Beautiful place to stay. Great hosts and beautiful little cottage/barn. The best duvet and pillows ever!!! Feels like sleeping in the clouds. Landscape is simply breathtaking.

A lot of people comment on the fact that they sleep well when they stay here; we do try to make sure we have the best linen and those special mattresses, but also the peace and quiet is definitely part of it too! The property was as described, i did not realise there was another rental next door. The views were amazing. Not too far from the main road about 3 miles. Lovely walking from the cottage.

Beautiful property with a spectacular view
Hosts delightful and so helpful and cottage immaculately clean. Thoughtful touches like fresh flowers, milk and wine! The cottage has beautiful views. It’s very private and super quiet. We stayed for one weekend and liked it so much we booked for the next weekend too. We are very happy to have found this place and will return again.

Fabulous holiday !
Our second stay at this beautiful cottage in the most stunning location. Cottage so cosy and comfortable with everything you could need and very friendly helpful owners. The location is perfect for nature lovers we saw deer on our way out one day - watched rabbits and lambs from the garden, amazing bird life, a nature lovers heaven ! Ideally situated for all of NYM and Whitby and driving distance for a day out in York. Thank you Mark and Moya for another lovely stay - we will most definitely return !

Beutiful Cosy Cottage
The property is located in a beautiful valley with far reaching views of the picturesque Yorkshire Moors, the cottage is well equipped with everything you could need and very comfortable and cosy! A Great Weekend - Above & Beyond Expectations
The property looks really nice online but in person it's even better. It's old fashion and cosy but also meshes with a modern feel - we had access to everything you could want (including a really strong Wi-Fi connection). The hosts greeted us and went over everything we needed to know - they had a great knowledge of the surrounding area and pointed us to some great local spots including a lesser-known waterfall which blew us away when we saw it. They were also on hand whenever we needed. What really set them apart was the numerous small touches from candles, board games, DVDs, a comprehensive information book with all flyers they had collected and other things. The log fire was an excellent addition and really sets a great atmosphere on colder nights. There was ample firewood on hand to see us through our time there. Overall, we loved our stay and will definitely be looking to return. For anyone looking for a perfect little getaway...this is the place!

Perfect Stay
This little cottage is a perfect hideaway for peace and quiet. Set along many a narrow road, expect an exciting ride to get to it, especially if you arrive in the dark, but once you are there you won’t regret it! Mark and Moya were the perfect hosts - great communication before our trip and were there to greet us upon arrival but at the same time, they left us alone unless we needed them. During our stay we were toasty warm there was an unlimited and ample supply of wood in the cottage we only needed to ask if we ran out ( we didn’t and we had the burner on every night!) there is also central heating if you’re not into making fires. The location of the cottage is perfect for a 30 or so minute trip to the coastal resorts (Robin Hoods Bay is beautiful) and about the same to Pickering or Helmsley. There are plenty of supermarkets in these places too, I wouldn’t rely on the village shop, but it was useful when we needed a thing or two. The cottage is in a beautiful setting and very well equipped with the promise that if you need anything else, you just have to ask. I honestly couldn’t think of anything else I needed. My advice would be do a good shop before you get there as once in, you won’t want to go anywhere! The owners provide you with a small quantity of tea and coffee to get you started, but I’d say make sure you pack extra! Top tip: start filling the bath in plenty of time…who’s in a rush anyway when you’re on holiday? It’s just worth mentioning. Thanks so much Moya and Mark for our week with you - we will be back!

Peaceful and relaxing location
We had a fabulous time. The views of the surrounding area were so beautiful. The fields were dotted with cows, sheep, rabbits and even an owl came to visit! We went to the Egton agricultural show, and many other places on the coast and in the dales. The accommodation was cosy with all the kitchen equipment you needed. The bed was very comfortable too. Our hosts were very attentive and friendly. Would certainly return and recommend it to anyone who wants to chill or be more active.

Wonderful retreat
We had a lovely time at Mark and Moya’s property. As hosts they were friendly, helpful and we really appreciated the welcoming touches as well as the insider knowledge of what to do in the local area. We made the most of the tips we were given and spent a very enjoyable and relaxing few days in the middle of rolling countryside and an idyllic setting. The cottage itself was as described. It was cute, well maintained, cozy and comfortable, stocked with everything you need for a few days away. We have wood burning stoves at home and it was a great addition to the cottage; keeping it warm and welcoming throughout our stay. The bed was comfortable and as mentioned above, the setting was wonderful. We would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are a couple wishing to experience all the area has to offer and it has the added bonus of being owned by two wonderful hosts!

Just back from 4 wonderfully relaxing nights in this delightful cottage. So warm and cosy with fabulous views over Glaisdale. Excellent facilities throughout and lots of thoughtful touches. Paradise’s garden
This is a beautifully done, cosy cottage. You are surrounded by a valley of green which you can walk down and through in 1.5 hrs. The hosts were very welcoming and are so kind. We couldn't have asked for anything more! So many stylish and meaningful touches. We would love to return again. Heartily recommended!

A beautiful, quiet Dales’ cottage
This cottage has everything you need for a respite from the world and it has a magnificent view of Glaisdale. For us, it was an excellent base for day trips to the coast, Pickering, and several of the neighboring dales, visiting family. Mark and Moya are extremely helpful with suggestions for walks, food and things to do. They are also knowledgeable about the history of their home and share stories. We highly recommend this property and hope to stay there again soon.

Great location
I can really recommend this property if you are looking for a place off the beaten track. The property is compact to fitted out to s high spec with a fantastic log burner which adds a nice touch at night. The views from the property are breathtaking with several great walks on your door step. Mark and Moyà were great hosts and helped with local advice. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I will certainly return fir a short break here we loved it.

Spring Getaway
Second time we've stayed at this wonderful property and location, and once again was the perfect peaceful getaway we wanted. The surrounding moors and valley are simply breathtaking in any weather, but if you have the sun and can bask outside in the private garden with nothing but 'feathery' neighbours for company it truly is bliss!! Ideal location for various walks across the moors towards Lealholm, the Esk Valley or simply down into Glaisdale village itself. With only a 25 minute drive to Whitby, 45 minute ride to Helmsley, or a short trip to neighbouring Grosmont (where the steam train can be caught - though trains vary season to season) there is an abundance of holiday delights to pick from whatever your fancy. The property itself is very quaint and luxurious for the perfect romantic getaway. The kitchen and bath facilities are especially good - giving that 'special treat' holiday feel. Mark and Moya, as well as Sheila, are all welcoming, fantastic hosts and their hospitality really adds to the chilled out, relaxing escape we seek. They all really made us feel like friends and added to the wonderful experiences we've had there so far. Would love to keep this place a secret so we can just escape there but failing that we cannot recommend either the property, location or hosts highly enough as it truly is the most relaxing and pleasant experience a couple could want when wanting to escape from daily life.

Perfect weekend stay
Me and my girlfriend came here for a long weekend break and could not have enjoyed it more. The cottage is situated in an incredible picturesque part of the world that blew us away immediately. The pictures given on the site don't do the cottage justice, and the pictures we took didn't either, it's incredibly well done and we felt really comfortable there. To the point we nearly didn't leave! The free standing bath and the super comfortable bed were real highlights. The cottage is really easy to find as the postcode provided gets you pretty close and the farms are well signposted so you'll see Postgate farm easily, paired with the directions provided by Mark and Moya. They were really good hosts who also made us feel welcome and made the trip special. Would recommend coming here to anyone and would love to come back for a longer visit to explore more of this amazing part of the country.

Beautiful little Nook in a stunning location with lovely owners!
A magical place to stay especially at Christmas! From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed & comfortable. The owner was helpful with directions & purchasing pork pies for us from the local butcher. The Nook is small but absolutely perfectly formed, just brilliant for 2 of us. A lovely deep bath with added bath bombs was a real treat. The bed was so comfortable with really good quality bed linen, duvet & pillows, a good nights sleep is essential when staying away from home & we definitely had that. Very pretty festive decorations made us feel really at home & with the log burner on it was almost magical over the Christmas period. The views are stunning, nothing else could describe it! You could sit for hours just relaxing & looking. A tin of fat balls for the birds is a nice touch, we thoroughly enjoyed watching the little Robins. Everything you need is there, no need to worry about a thing. Nice cosy rugs to wrap up in, plenty of good quality pans, baking tins, plates, glasses etc, tea, coffee etc it’s all there. The dishwasher a bonus at Christmas, love it. We really can’t thank the owners enough. We had a lovely Christmas, we had a lovely stay. We will definitely return. We highly recommend this little slice of paradise.

Lovely stay in a cosy cottage in a beautiful valley
We had a wonderful break at Postgate Nook. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Loved the character of the place, the wood burning stove and beautiful views across the valley. Lovely to see so many stars in the dark skies and watch the livestock being taken out to the fields as well as the birds singing away in the morning. Highly recommended for a peaceful break. We spent most days walking in the beautiful countryside. The cottage has lots of small touches that really make a difference. Thanks Moyà & Mark. All in all a restorative break.

This property is just right for romantic couples of any age looking for a quiet space to 'catch their breath' away from busy lives. It is clean and well equipped and the hosts are warm and welcoming without being intrusive. Lovely views, accessible footpaths and 'big skies' complete the picture.

A home away from home
We spent a few wonderful weeks at the Postgate Nook. The property is very comfortable and decorated in a quintessential cottage style with all modern amenities, exactly as we had hoped from the photos. The location is outstanding. Such lovely views to wake up to and enjoy the rest of the day! We hiked almost every day; the possibilities in the area are endless and Mark and Moya had some very good suggestions. They are the perfect hosts: there when you want some advice or something needs sorting out, but otherwise living their own life so their guests can have privacy. We truly felt at home, and if we choose to holiday in the same area again there is no other place we would want to stay.

Postgate Nook.......what a delight!
Characterful cottage, tastefully refurbished in a fabulous, picturesque setting with amazing views. We were privileged to also have glorious weather whilst staying in this gem of a cottage! Moya and Mark are excellent hosts without being overbearing. They are happy to provide a wealth of local, insiders knowledge in order for you to have a wonderful holiday. Cottage located only about 15-20 mins from Whitby, providing easy access to coastal locations. Scenic coastal walks nearby, many walks also directly from cottage without having to access via car. Hope to return to the area to witness the lovely moors in full heather glory, wouldn't hesitate to rebook at Postgate Nook. We wish you continued success Moya and Mark with your lovely cottage and any future accommodation. Sue and Mick.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful location
The cottage was lovely an ideal place to stay to enjoy the moors and the coastal villages and towns.. we hope to return in the not too distant future. If you like walking the cottage s ideally situated. Mark and Moya were wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble The North York Railway was nearby and well worth a trip.

thanks for the review. sorry about the lighting, but we've always tried to keep the lighting subdued and romantic, as that's what most guests have appreciated. however it's a good suggestion to provide more reading lights for people who need them. we'll certainly make sure we can make them available.

Away from it all
This is a wonderful little hideaway in the picturesque Yorkshire Moors. We enjoyed a couple of nights away for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and Moya and Mark could not have been more helpful. Car definitely needed but in easy reach of Whitby / Pickering and lots of choice for pub grub. The cottage had everything we needed.

Perfect for Two!
Echoing previous reviews, a big thank you to Mark and Moya for being such wonderful hosts of a little gem of a place. We loved everything about Postgate Nook and stayed warm and cosy throughout our blustery February week: log burner, blankets, cosy bedding and warm baths were all a treat to come back to after a day of exploring. The wine and bath bombs were also appreciated! What a beautiful place the north York Moors is - wow; we truly relaxed and enjoyed all the scenery, towns and villages, along with meeting so many friendly people. The cottage is really well placed within the area and we'd recommend it in a heartbeat for a real break from the hustle and bustle of life. Thanks again - all was perfect.

A Real ‘Nook’ Hideaway
What an ideal place to spend Christmas together, just the two of us. Postgate Nook had everything we required, and Mark and Moyà had even decorated the cottage with seasonal trimmings. We were ideally place: away from it all, but close to attractions such as Whitby (fish and chips at The Magpie ..mmm), Sandsend and Runswick, and a delicious traditional lunch at The Board, Lealholm. When we returned we could relax, warm and comfortable with books or TV, and that essential requisite a wood burning stove. A memorable Christmas, in a beautiful location; thank you Mark and Moyà.

Great place cozy and homely
Mark and his wife so friendly and sorted out whatever we needed and made stay a real peaceful holiday - a lovely break away for us - great views and lovely bit of Yorkshire to stay in
