"The Welsh Rarebit is not authentic. Far too much bread and ham, not enough rarebit. Just blobs of a cheesy mixture piped onto large chunks of bread. Only disappointing part of my visit."

"Lovely hotel close to the lake and very convenient for the shops, theatre and main attractions. Staff at Reception and at breakfast were all really pleasant and helpful. Arriving in a car is a bit of a nightmare: the entrance is in a very tight and busy street, so finding somwhere to wait while paying for the hotel car park and getting directions was difficult. If we could have paid for the parking in advance and driven straight to the car park, that would have been much easier. Breakfast was cooked to order, but really nothing special: one piece of bacon and one (very ordinary) sausage in the Full English breakfast, but a nice spread in the buffet selections. For such an expensive hotel, charging extra for the avocado and other 'special' breakfasts seemed to be taking a liberty."

"The hotel is in a great location and enjoys a lovely reception with bar area and amazing views over lake Windermere. The staff are super friendly and the spa is just great. Food was excellent having eaten evening meal and breakfast with all cooked fresh to order. Recommend and will stay again"

"Great location on the waterfront & close to the (few) eating options in town. Helpful & friendly staff. Basic & sparse rooms with (slightly glitchy) wifi. Good, hot breakfast and an evening meal that was surprisingly good. Free parking in the vicinity & close to the local trails & hikes."

I particularly appreciated the breakfast menu, which featured delicious vegan options. We made sure to reserve a table every morning. All in all, it was a truly fantastic experience!"

"Warm comfortable room in lovely hotel that is walking distance from lake. House was where Beatrix Potter took holidays & she eventually bought it for her mother. Love the whimsical touches such as carpets & wallpaper. Easy private parking included. Stairs to rooms on first & second floors but staff help with luggage if needed. Dinner & breakfast at the hotel restaurant were good."
