Old hotel in middle of town

Posted 23-Nov-2015
Pros: Location is fine in the middle of town.
Cons: Fix parking boom gate security. Monitor noise level in the court yard under the rooms.
Location: Close to both Bath and Salisbury.
The Old Bell Inn is centrally located in the middle of Warminster. It is an old coach house built in 1500s. Rooms are OK for a 3 star hotel. Breakfast is good. Noisy on a Fri and Sat night due to music in the pub. Mainly it is the smokers outside under the rooms that make most of the noise for guest rooms. We were surprised with the amount of noise on the Sunday night due to this until 2300 even though there was no music in the pub on this night. Walking distance from station. Parking provided by hotel as per the claim on website but boom gate broken for duration of visit so often car park full with locals and we had to drive out and find parking elsewhere which was annoying.

Its a basic hotel in an OK location

Posted 08-Oct-2015
Nothing fancy, mostly reasonable and OK value for money. I had gammon & eggs in the bar for dinner and it wasn't cooked properly - they used a microwave and the bottom slice was still raw whilst the top was cooked ! basic A-B-C of cooking with microwaves I'd have thought. They gave me a free pint but would rather have the food done properly.

Good breakfast

Pros: Proximity to Stonehenge.
Cons: Update the bathrooms.
Location: Not much to do in the town, but Stonehenge was not too far away.
Access to the rooms, as in many old buildings, was through a narrow staircase. Our room was quite large, with high ceilings, but our relative's room was small, the windows were not installed properly (which my husband, a glazier was able to repair), the bathrooms were somewhat moldy. Not the fault of the hotel, but the pub across the street played cover tunes very loudly until late into the evening. However, breakfast was delightful!

Lovely stay!

Posted 05-Sep-2015
If you want to spend a night or two away I would definitely recommend this hotel! Hotel staff were lovely and communicative, I had a minor problem and they helped me sort it without complaint. We were off to Longleat and so this was perfect, not too far away. Rooms weren't massive but they were nice and cosy, they were good sizes. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Super friendly and accommodating staff. Rooms a bit tired but to be expected. But clean! Really nice pub with good beer especially the 6X. Nice beer garden. Full English breakfast was good. I'd stay again. If anything a little cheaper would make it great value for money.

my stay in Warminster

I know the hotel is not modern, but the noise of creaking floorboards anytime anyone walked about upstairs was most disturbing at all times of the night, also the bed was uncomfortable with the mattress hard.
