Stunning property with character, cleanliness and space to enjoy. The hosts were really warm and welcoming. Our little girl was invited out to play with their kids, and we were offered some very fresh eggs! Wonderful stay.

Rolling hills, welcoming villages and exciting family-friendly attractions - in many respects Wiltshire is like any other of the United Kingdom's most popular holiday destinations. What really sets this county apart, though, is its edge of prehistoric mystery. From the world-famous Stonehenge to the stone circles at Avebury, there's a good deal to charm holidaymakers in Wiltshire. Among the most special attractions in the county is Silbury Hill, located just off the A4, near Avebury. Fortunately for inquisitive travellers, there's no shortage of hotels and guest houses nearby.
Silbury Hill is a man-made chalk mound that marks an unusual blip in the pristine Wiltshire countryside. Estimates place the time of construction at around 2400BC, making it one of the oldest tourist attractions in Britain. The exact purpose of Silbury Hill is unknown, but what we do know is that, at 98ft high, it's the tallest artificial mound in Europe. With free parking near to the viewing area, Silbury Hill is an excellent place for keen walkers.
Silbury Hill makes up part of the Stonehenge, Avebury and Associated Sites UNESCO World Heritage Site. To feel the full sense of mystery and fascination of these unique sites, they're best visited together. Stonehenge isn't far, and the complex stone circles at Avebury are no more than a (small!) stone's throw away. The Alexander Keiller Museum is the place to start your journey, learning about all six sites in the area.
Wiltshire is a thriving county, attracting thousands of tourists all through the year. As such, visitors are spoilt with a wide selection of hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses all across the county. From luxurious and grand hotels to affordable boutique guesthouses, there's something for all tastes and budgets.
For those seeking a well-equipped and luxurious hotel close to Silbury Hill, the Bowood Hotel and Spa could well be the answer. The hotel boasts spectacular grounds, as well as a fitness suite and on-site golf course. The Best Western Plus Angel Hotel in nearby Chippenham offers great value for money, and features ample room for events and business meetings too.
