"Our stay at Burnhopeside Hall was one of our most memorable ever. Christine, our hostess, was delightful and helpful. The room was spacious and the surroundings could not have been more grand. This is a stately old home, full of beautiful furniture and dishes, near sheep pastures and the river. While there, we walked the yard and fields behind the house, went down to the river, accompanied by Barney and Spencer (the Burnhopeside dogs!).

"The outside of this hotel is deceptive. Inside it is spacious, well decorated and our room was large and excellent, very well equipped,although my partner did not appreciate the wet room! I showered and afterwards he walked in with his socks on! It was a bathroom set up for anyone with a disability. We had a small evening meal, having been out for Sunday lunch and then to a party, but it was very tasty.

"Stayed on a Saturday evening. After travelling and a long day I was looking forward to a rest. The room was clean but no remote for the tv and the toilet seat was broken. I spoke to the staff and nothing materialised to sort either. Also there was entertainment which I wasn’t aware of so it was very noisy, especially as I was directly above them.
