"Very clean, well run and a decent breakfast. In a way it’s the perfect location: a 10-minute walk to Ortigia, but you are away from the over-touristy bits."

Ortigia is popular for its seaside views, and if you're looking for more to see and do, you might think about a trip to Cathedral of Syracuse or Piazza del Duomo.
The room, shared spaces and breakfast room were beautiful, the staff were fantastic and answered every question, including booking taxis for us, and the breakfast was delicious. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.

A great hotel with the usual aspect of the old theatre and cinema still there.
The hotel is also perfectly positioned for strolls into the town and to the sea .
Great views from the terrace.
A good selection at breakfast

Fabulous B&B. Anna the host is friendly and welcoming and speaks excellent English. Perfect location just across the bridge to Ortiga. Lovely rooms, excellent breakfast. Mini fridge with free bottled water was provided in the room and communal area where you could help yourself to snacks, tea and coffee. Anna provided info on Ortiga and restaurant recommendations which were great. Only 3 rooms, if you see them available snap them up. Very good value. Lovely spot for gelato, granita, coffee and...

Fantastic place - my favourite out of the four we stayed at in Sicily. The owners and staff are very warm and helpful - exceptionally so. The location is great - right in the middle of the restaurant and cafe area of Ortygia, with all key sights within easy walking distance. Depsite having a cafe in the same street, with windows closed it wasn't noisy at night (I'm a light sleeper - it was fine). They have commissioned a mural painter based in Rome to paint the ceilings of the rooms - ours was...

Loved this hotel - greeted by friendly staff and offered a drink as soon as we arrived which was very welcome. Rooms totally unique. Lovely sitting area up on top patio to relax after a long day - staff kindly made us a pot of tea when our tea bags ran out with bone china tea cups!! A drink on the main patio (which was where you could have breakfast too) overlooking the sea under vines was a great way to start the evening where we met some lovely people each evening. The menu was fresh but was also quite minimum. We were happy with it.
We would happily recommend living with Salvo for visiting Syracuse. The location is well located in the city in a quiet neighbourhood, importantly it feels safe.

Booked on the strength of other reviews - and they weren’t wrong. B&B Porta Marina is a brilliant place to stay for exploring Ortigia, with a warm welcome from an excellent host who gave us invaluable & interesting information for our trip. Great breakfast too; recommended.

These shoulder seasons provide warm, sunny days great for exploring the town and enjoying the coast. Temperatures are comfortable for sightseeing and outdoor activities, typically ranging from the low 20s to high 20s Celsius. You'll find the archaeological sites less crowded, and it's easier to secure reservations at popular restaurants.
For travellers who prefer warmer conditions and don't mind more people, July and August are also good options. This is peak summer, with temperatures often in the low to mid-30s Celsius. The sea is at its warmest, making it ideal for swimming and water sports. However, you should expect larger crowds and higher prices for accommodation and flights during these months.
Those looking for a quieter trip could consider April or November. While the weather might be a bit cooler and some seasonal businesses may be closed, you'll experience a more authentic side of Santa Lucia without the tourist bustle.
