"The room was comfortable and natural bathing products shower gel etc was provided in the bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious."

"Breakfast was very good and I liked making my own waffle. Room was good. Little lift outside hotel for disabled and elderly was very difficult to figure out how to use. Had to carry heavy luggage up the steps. Ramp might be better. Location was good. Would recommend staying there."

"An interesting and attractive 4 star hotel. Room was a nice size with the usual amenities. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, with a variety of cold items and a made to order hot breakfast. We especially liked the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Surprisingly, for a hotel with a French "vibe", the croissants etc. were stale. But that was a minor complaint. Overall, a lovely, well-run, well-located hotel."

"Booked a double-double room for a university visit. Hotel location is excellent and the room was clean and relatively well equipped, if a little dated. Beds were comfortable and there were the usual facilities in there too (fan, iron and boars, safe etc..) The only negative point is that there is no air conditioning, which - given that we managed to arrive on a day that was 27c - was a problem. The fans helped but it was still a clammy and uncomfortable night. Even budget hotels these days have AC so if you're staying in York during the warmer months it's worth bearing this in mind - especially when we paid almost £300/night."
