"It was the worst hotel we ever have stayed.
Air conditioner did not work. The manager, a pretty rude old woman, just said: open the windows.
Don't come here. Even for free."

"An interesting hotel with 70s-80s decore. A feeling of the past however with a view to the future with serious commitment to green credentials. A slow food restaurant extends the good feeling of solar power, and recycled papers in the bathrooms and dining rooms.
The shower was a little small and flimsy but the water was good and hot and the heating was hydronic . Staff were excellent. Only a short walk from a beautiful town and the station. If you dont speak italian the majority of staff spoke...

"We were only looking for an o/n as we travelled back from the Amalfi Coast but found this hidden gem and can highly recommend. Stunning views and comfy rooms set in a village type accommodation. Breakfast was very good "

This guy s a fantastic hotel! Wonderful facilities and food.
Also, the staff are super helpful and friendly - sent us to a great garage who fixed our broken rear view mirror
The area is spectacular!

Lovely hotel with large open air pool and surrounding area. Delicious food, helpful staff and good size room for two people.
Slightly away from town but hotel offers a shuttle service for most trips into town. It is walkable but depends on the weather as the heat can make it tough going.
Thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay.

Very helpful, friendly staff. Room (superior) was a really good size. A second day chair would be good! Bathroom clean and a good size. Bed comfy.
There are sitting rooms, we used one each night and had it all to ourselves.
Breakfast simple but everything you would expect for a continental breakfast. Some cut fruit or berries would have been good. However coffee was fab!

Absolutely beautiful property in an idyllic location surrounded by greenery. Staff were welcoming and helpful, breakfast was absolutely delicious and a real highlight each morning. The swimming pool area was lovely although watch out for mosquitoes! Would definitely return.

A lovely, well appointed room That hotel’s position is incredible and we really had a room with a view. The bed was very comfortable. Good, generous breakfast.
We had a lot of communication beforehand as we had booked a paling space. We were given detailed instructions for this.
Highly recommend.

The hotel was lovely - a big spacious room. The staff were attentive and helpful especially the chambermaid and the engineering student from Pisa! Breakfast was plentiful and interesting. Very peacefull apart from the market morning when stalls are set up very early in the main street. Alittle bit of heaven in such interesting surroundings. We ate in the sister hotel but think the nearby Foriestieri was 5 Star - highly recommended in fab building. Beware portions are large.

The best area to stay in Piteglio is the historic centre of the village itself, or the nearby hamlet of Popiglio, for a truly authentic Tuscan experience.
Piteglio's historic centre is a small, elevated village with narrow, winding streets and stone buildings, offering panoramic views of the surrounding Apennine mountains and valleys. It's a very quiet and picturesque setting, great for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The main piazza features a historic church and a local shop.
Couples seeking a romantic and tranquil escape will find Piteglio ideal. The lack of major tourist crowds allows for peaceful walks, enjoying local cuisine at a slow pace, and simply soaking in the stunning natural beauty. The nearby Pistoia Mountains offer opportunities for hiking and exploring local traditions.
Popiglio, just a short drive from Piteglio, offers a similar peaceful atmosphere but with a slightly larger village feel. It's known for its ancient bridge, Ponte della Maddalena (Devil's Bridge), and a few local eateries. It's a great option for those who want a bit more choice for evening meals while still being in a calm, rural setting.
When is the best time to go to Piteglio?
The best time to visit Piteglio is typically during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October) for pleasant weather and fewer crowds.
During these shoulder seasons, the weather is comfortably warm, ideal for exploring the Tuscan countryside, visiting vineyards, and taking day trips without the intense heat of summer. You'll find the landscape lush and green in spring, or golden with harvest colours in autumn. This period also generally avoids the peak tourist rush, offering a more relaxed experience at popular attractions.
For those who enjoy warmer temperatures and the bustle of summer activities, July and August are also excellent, though it can get quite hot. This is peak season, so you can expect more people and higher prices for accommodation and flights. However, many local festivals and outdoor events take place during these months.
