Hotels near Pencoed Station, Cardiff

"I was mildly disappointed with my stay at Vale Resort. The disappointment started when I messaged the hotel through hotels.com where I made the booking and no one responded for over 24hrs. Someone should be monitoring this email address. So after no one replied, I called up the hotel more than a day later, I could not get an answer and instead got an automated message asking me to leave details. By that afternoon, still no one had called me back. So I called again and did get an answer this time. The next day, I also got a call back.. but given the amount this place costs, I would expect much better communication standards and much less hassle for me. The advert for the hotel also currently states on hotels.com that 'free valet parking' is available. When I arrived and asked about this, the lady on the desk sort of smirked at me and said no such thing was available. I explained that I believed the listing on hotels.com detailed this service and she said she would check. But a few days later the advert still incorrectly lists this service(I took screen shots). I don't really care about valet parking, but I think the hotel should take a lot more seriously the fact that they have a misleading listing. The spa was ok.. though it was hard to get a go in the hot tubs due to a couple of groups just camped out there for a very long period. I was disappointed no robes were provided in the room, I have never experienced a spa in this country that does not provide robes."

"Lovely hotel/old inn. Excellent shower. Breakfast (over the road) great. Easy parking - although it might be a squeeze if there was a function being held. Look forward to staying again."

"It was an ideal stay for a short stay but I do feel that the rooms do need a bit of a revamp. I must say though, it was a very clean. Great service though and staff were very friendly. Thank you ☺️"

"Stayed a few times over the years. They have done it up brilliantly! My only gripe was the breakfast experience. I came at the time I had given but felt I was an inconvenience as the staff told me I only had so long, not to sit a certain tables. I was the only customer, they were packing away and were occupied with their next 'event'. Food for thought? Best wishes. "

"Beautiful boutique hotel. Hard to know where to start, property itself is stunning, decor in all areas is excellent. On arrival reception staff were very welcoming and informative. Rooms are large and very comfortable. Bar is good, prices reasonable and excellent choice. Spa is well appointed. Fantastic evening meal in Blok restaurant, food superb, staff attentive, informative and friendly. Breakfast also very good, again staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Overall, an outstanding place for a couple to take a relaxing break"

"We stayed for a long weekend and had an absolutely wonderful time. The log cabin is secluded and surrounded by trees so very private and quiet. It is furnished well with a very comfortable bed and a super comfortable sofa (a rarity in these small cabins in our experience!) the cabin was warm and cosy, kitchen was well stocked with the usual necessities, all clean and well kept too. We had our dog with us and he was warmly welcomed. The secluded spot means we could let him sniff and explore the grounds in comfort! Louis was quick to respond when we had a small issue (of our own stupidity in the end!) and came over quickly to rectify. We’d highly recommend this cabin for a quiet trip away for a couple, and if you’re a wine drinker, the cabin comes stocked with the families creations from across the bridge! "
