Second visit. Friendly staff. Convenient for visiting family in Cardiff. Quiet location.

We stayed two nights at the Bear in September and enjoyed it immensely. This is a ancient Coaching Inn and so layout is a little quirky. But the room was a good size and extremely comfortable. Large four poster bed, comfortable armchair, sufficient hanging space, a well appointed en suite and tea making facilities, made for a great stay. Breakfast was individually made and well cooked. We also are in the bar late on Sunday and the roast (topside of beef and all trimmings) was outstanding....

My first time staying here and I was very impressed, the venue itself is beautiful, the whole place including the grounds were very clean and tidy, the decor of the place was lovely and very imaginative. My room was fantastic, very large, clean and had all the facilities. Dinner and breakfast were just perfect. I cant fault the place in any way, the staff were all very polite, perfect.

I booked this hotel at very short notice, due to visiting the area as a surprise to see my daughter. On arrival the whole building was spotless, and after a short wait, I was greeted by the proprietor. The gentleman was extremely professional, happy, polite and gave the warmest of welcomes to his establishment. He promptly booked me in and escorted me to my room. Great staff, facilities where good, breakfast was nice, room was tidy, what else could you ask for.

The Hotel is a 15 century house which has been sympathetically restored retaining many of the original features. The bedrooms in the main house were charming, very clean with a very fresh en suite and lovely white bed linen and towels. Excellent accommodation lovely and spacious, very clean great staff !

A little off the beaten track but accommodation was excellent. All staff were friendly and courteous. Room was spacious with a great shower. Pub below/next door had a good selection of real ales.

3 Adults one child and a dog, three nights, very tight budget. I did not fancy camping as I didn't want to get wet and cold, my knees demand a high bed and my bladder wants a loo...well, when it wants a loo! This B&B/restaurant is fantastic and I can not fault it at all! The rooms are spacious, clean,warm and comfortable with plenty of free tea/coffee. Stopped here for one night to see family in the local area and watch rugby match. Rooms nice, comfortable, various sizes and all double rooms. All en-suite bathrooms with baths in some with shower over and the smaller rooms with wall in shower only. Great variety of tea types in each room and fresh milk in flask provided. Really lovely stay for 3 nights. Gorgeous room and bathroom, great friendly staff and good food. Very good value. Train station right across the road. Would definitely stay again.

Great staff, fab location

The cottage was very clean throughout. Check-in was entirely online, as the cottages are self-contained from the main building. I think I was the only person staying during my visit, making it blissfully quiet. There are no dining facilities on-site, so you will need to drive to the recommended local places to eat. I didn't actually try any of them, as I was using the cottage as a base to visit family. I will definitely look to book here again next time I am in the area."
