Started off well. Ended very badly.
Everything was good until the evening of the second day when I got food poisoning. I ordered some food from the restaurant at the hotel, in the evening. Around 6am, I woke up in a very sick state. I spent the next 3 hours periodically going from the bed to the bathroom being sick or having diarrhoea. Then when nothing was left, I was just getting stomach cramps whilst my body was still trying to clear everything from my digestive system. This was not a pleasurable experience! I was working away from home and had to awkwardly contact my boss to let them know that although i've driven 3 hours to get to Nottingham and paid for a hotel, I cannot make it in to the office today. It was 10am (checkout is 11am) and the maid came in to clean the room. She showed a lot of empathy with the situation I was in and said she would contact the reception to see if they can extend my checkout time as I wasn't in a fit state to leave yet. About 45minutes later, I got a call from the reception demanding that I leave the room before 11am or an additional fee would be added for each and every hour that I was there past 11am. I explained to the receptionist what I had been through but she was not interested and just said fill in this food poisoning form if you've had food poisoning, but you won't be compensated in any way. Wow, the customer service here is fantastic. They give you food poisoning then try to get you to do the quality control for them whilst kicking you out of the hotel.
