Pleasant stay

Posted 08-Nov-2017
Pros: Staff were very good, especially in the dining room. In North bay with access to those facilities.
Cons: Cleanliness of bathroom.
Location: Close to peasholme park and other North bay attractions such as the new aquapark and northstead manor garens.
Breakfast was self service and good quality. Plentiful supply. Room, bed etc. were very clean, but bathroom was less so.

Friendly staff, great sea views, big room and spacious bathroom. Breakfast buffet was piping hot, makes a change from the tepid offerings normally served up..

Scarborough Weekend

Posted 03-Sep-2017 on Hotels
The room was lovely, clean and a reasonable size. However overall the hotel was dated and the service very matter of fact and not welcoming at all. In fact I think staff need to be trained in customer service. In today's world of technology I find it unacceptable to only provide Wi-Fi in the lobby areas. All rooms should have Wi-Fi.

Checked in and checked back out again

Pros: Absolutely nothing
Cons: Everything
Location: Lovely location overlooking the North bay and handy for the beach, northstead manor gardens, open air theatre, peasholm park and the new water park.
The hotel was dated and shabby. We had paid £116 for room only the room we were offered was the size of a box room the bed was only a three quarter size and looked out on to roof tops. On top of that they charge £6 a day to park. They had only that room to offer. After a long debate they offered to refund my money. I was ready to go home in favour of staying there however we walked up the road and found a lovely seafront hotel we had a lovely room and breakfast included for £70.00

Hotel location is handy for the Oper Air Theartre.

Pros: The Breakfast was nice and set out well with plenty of choice.
Cons: A general make over, and rebrief the staff on why, what and where internal management affairs should take place.
Location: Peasholm Park, North Beach and the Sea life centre is close bye, for the more sporting type, North Cliff Golf Club is a 5 minute drive away.
The Clifton is in need of a makeover outside and in. Our room was furnished with basic amineties ,the towels were fresh and the bedding clean. The windows were filthy outside with the main window being trapped open with a toilet roll. In the breakfast hall there was light fittings that had come loose and hanging down from the bar area. While waiting for my other half i could hear reception staff complaining about the staff rota and in particular who was to work Saturday nights.

Average but poor parking

Just ok really nothing special. Parking is a challenge and pricing is quite high for what you get

Fantastic view of the coast line from our bedroom windows, although a little dated wouldn't hesitate to recommend and rebook

Avoid!!!! Or send for Alex Polizzi!

Pros: Not much, staff were pleasant enough if a little disinterested
Cons: Seriously, pretty much everything, tired shabby hotel
Location: Scarborough is great, just don't stay at the Clifton on you visit, there are much, much better hotels for much less money
Peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, leaking shower, missing tile, dirty pointing around sink, stained ceiling in bedroom, stained duvet cover (that was replaced when we mentioned it) peeling paintwork and tired furnishings/paintwork, would not have stayed had it been for more than one night, my wife refused to use the shower it was so poor (chipped and dirty bath) and the first hotel I have EVER stayed in where they did not ask me if I enjoyed my stay on check out, they probably knew, although I did leave the visit comments card filled in, plus vastly overpriced for standard. 2 tea bags in room! Very surprised at Brittania, they used to have standards,
