"We stayed overnight and had dinner and breakfast on the morning of departure. Anyone with mobility issues needs to be careful about which room they book, of those in the castle I think that there are a couple on the first floor, accessed by a fairly grand staircase. The rest require a climb up a narrow and steep spiral staircase. The room we stayed was up said spiral staircase and was spacious and clean, well furnished and with a large en-suite. The lady on reception provided a great welcome and helped during our stay, special mention also goes to the lady who gave us and other guests a castle tour. In terms of dining we found a limited menu and an incapacity to vary it in the slightest. Also the staff were less than attentive."

"We stayed in room 206 as it is an old property creaking floor boards late at night and early morning kept us awake. Also the fire doors on each room were constantly slamming closed, if only guests could keep hold of the door and close it quietly using a bit of common sense would ensure that other guests could get a good nights sleep. "Property was clean and tidy. Shower was spacious however room was very noisy even on the 10th floor and hot, fan was offered in the room as no air con available. Potentially could do with some updates and offer blackout blinds/curtains "

"Parking good Breakfast option-overpriced and nothing freshly cooked Would avoid weekends if a wedding party was on as very noisy in hotel rooms adjoining. Restaurant ok but substituted by a meetings room on one day of our visit which was like a mausoleum Heating good to start with but a cold spell whilst there and cold on mornings and evenings Accessibility good - no stairs to speak -there’s a lift as well Staff so so some ok -some less so Wouldn’t stay there again"

"We booked a treehouse for an overnight stay on 16 April 2026. prior to my daughter's wedding on 17th. We were allocated the Cuckoo lodge and sizewise it was perfect. My daughter and future husband and my two grandchildren took the studio side which had its own entrance and hot-tub but they also had access to the main unit where the remainder of the family were housed. This included a massive bathroom with double walk-in shower. It had its own access to separate terrace including the hot-tub. The main unit had a large ground floor living accommodation with a large outdoor terrace housing another hot-tub. Ground floor also led onto a very large bedroom suite with a walk-in shower and a separate large copper bathtub. It also had a large sofa bed. This bedroom housed my elder daughter and her four children more than comfortably. The wife and I shared the mezzanine bedroom overlooking the main living quarters. A blackout blind helped keep the room dark. We made use of 'The Pin' bar and restaurant along with the spa complex which is in the main hotel area. A golf-buggy ensured people got to these additions without any bother. The treehouse was a perfect start to a perfect day. It was clean, staff were attentive to the family needs and I would recommend it to anyone."
