"Great location, just a 5 min walk from the metro - and theres actually a sneaky way that makes it even closer that we didnt know about til we left - they have an elevator that goes down below the bridge where theres no foot traffic making walking w/luggage a breeze and goes straight to the train station. They had a full restaurant and offered an AYCE order off the menu breakfast at a very reasonable price - 18 euros a person i think? Comfortable bed, nice soaking tub. Tub and shower are separate so you can enjoy a Japanese style bath if you wanted. Only downside is that the room i got was a "city view" and our view was just a brick walk. We joked about how bc the room came with photographs of the city on their walls that that was made it "city view" lol. However, we don’t travel to just look out the window of our hotel. We wanna get out there! I'd just say dont bother paying more for a room that claims to have a view. I'm sure some do but you may not be so lucky. Again, location was great. Not only dist to metro but to the heart of Edinburgh- minutes from Calton Hill w/a great view of the city and all the shops/restaurants/castle."

"The Place Hotel in Edinburgh is a charming establishment that is within easy walking distance from Waverley Station and Waverley Mall, even if hauling your luggage, as I did. It is beautifully decorated and very clean. The staff were very hospitable and generously helpful with any of my needs or questions. There's a charming bar area, along with two very nice breakfast dining areas, which are connected, with ample common rooms in between. My single room was very nicely set up, very clean and had its own private bathroom and shower. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and I was able to rest well after more than 24 hrs of travel. Breakfast does costs extra but was so worth it, because of the variety of choices of food and beverages. The only thing I found daunting were the stairs and carrying luggage up and down. Thankfully, Reception staff did help me get my luggage up two flights of stairs to my room, as I was wearing a knee brace, but just know that there is no lift. I will definitely stay here again, and highly recommend The Place Hotel for it's welcoming staff and extremely comfortable accommodations."
