Staff wouldn’t even provide a bottle of water gratis considering the situation. Felt very badly for several older guest who were struggling with stairs and front desk offered nothing but a shrug when they stopped by asking for help. Pictures overstated how nice the room was. Great location, but not worth the $350 we paid."

"Obviously an older property, but one that neatly combined classic features with modern touches. Our room, the "crime suite", was quirky, but nonetheless welcoming under the gaze of life-size photo representations of Scottish crime-writers like Ian Rankine. Equally pleasing, the bathroom was large and superbly appointed. All the staff we encountered were friendly and diligent and the breakfast fare, including gluten-free for my wife, was excellent. A top-notch stay in a classy hotel."
