Roosters Retreat is a first-floor apartment set within an old Grade II Listed cottage that is situated within 1 mile of the seafront in this lovely seaside town and offers comfortable, spacious and contemporary accommodation for up to four guests who are looking for the perfect base from which to discover this beautiful part of the country. Fully updated, it is well suited for a small family or couples and is within easy reach of shops, restaurants and the beach. The accommodation comprises a spacious open plan lounge/kitchen/diner with a high arched ceiling with a smart TV and comfortable furniture. The kitchen area has an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher and a full size fridge/freezer. Directly outside the main living area is a small sitting-out area. There are two bedrooms; a king-size and a twin and a lovely modern shower room parking is available directly outside the apartment for one car.

Minehead is a lovely seaside town that sits on the edge of Exmoor National Park. If walking is your passion, there is no better place to be. Not only do you have Exmoor on the doorstep, with its magnificent views, designated ‘dark skies’ for gorgeous stargazing, wildlife and cosy pubs; but the town is also the starting point of the Southwest Coast Path, the longest countryside trail in the south-west. It’s also the terminus for West Somerset Railway, the longest heritage railway in Britain. The town offers a wide range of attractions, including the beach, promenade, harbour, beautiful gardens and a colourful tree-lined avenue with an array of shops and amenities. Dominated by the wooded slopes of North Hill, the whole area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and is also well situated to discover the beauty of North Devon with stunning Lynton and Lynmouth en route.

I had an ongoing problem with a fault in the central heating but I am sure they will resolve that at some time and I am not reflecting that in my rating... this could so easily be 5 stars by addressing some basics1) Dog bed and high chair but NO side tables or coffee table - had to sit holding drinks or put them on the floor2) A Smart TV can be useful but not if you just want to catch terrestrial TV news or if you need subtitles - the set had a cable into the wall but apparently not connected to an aerial.3) No soap in the shower,4) 'bath' towels were not large enough, nowadays for 5 stars I think guests expect large soft 'bath sheets'5) 3 doors between appartment and outside but only one could be secured and as this one is mostly glass, this does reduce the feeling of security. 6) A door to the electrics on the stairs was not properly secured and would frequently and unexpectedly swing open into a dangerous position to strike you on the head or in the face when descending the stairs.
