I stayed here for two days on the weekend after Thanksgiving. The room was very clean and spacious, and the staff was polite. The parking was full, but I found parking in the surrounding neighborhood (free and all day on the weekends).
Everything was perfect including the location and the quiet room we asked for and received. There is simply no better place to stay if you have a car. The garage was easy to access and it's very easy to drive to and over the Golden Gate bridge To Marin County and beyond as well as onto 101 going to the airport.
I had a two night stay at the La Luna for an OP medical procedure at UCSF.....though there was a problem with my bathroom shortly after check-in ....Sophie was great and moved me to another room which worked much better for my needs given the reason for my stay. I met Scott, the hotel manager when I was checking out......very courteous, informative, pleasant, and it was interesting that his father was from the same area as myself. This hotel is on a very busy street....however if you have the fan or heat on and/or are located in the building farther from the street, the noise really isn't that bad. Then again, I used to work around the corner on Union St. so I was already pretty accustomed to it. Still, I got a great bargain and with the convenience of having a Walgreen's across the street, I'm sure I will stay at the La Luna in the future when I have more procedures at UCSF. .....Also parking was easy, safe, and a huge bonus!!!
We always enjoy our stay at Cow Hollow. It is located in a place where we can park the car when we arrive and just walk everywhere for our entire stay. It is nice not having to drive in San Francisco. We always go on the off season so the price is wonderful. The staff is helpful. I wish there could be a complimentary breakfast or coupon for the restaurant right there or for Mel's across the street.
Stayed here for 4 nights and having never been to San Francisco before we didn't know what to expect. We chose this hotel because of the free parking which would save hassle and expense. Great location on Lombard St, yes its a busy road being route 101, but the surrounding streets have great bars and cafes and shopping. For example its about 40 minutes to walk to pier 33 which is the Alcatraz landing and the neighbourhood was totally fine along the way. Hotel or Motor Inn as its called is situated on the corner of Lombard and Fillmore street, if you take a walk up Fillmore St you will see more bars, cafes and restaurants and shops too as the road leads up to Pacific Heights which we felt was fine to walk up to, beyond that you may want to use your car or public transport. Not far from Presidio or Palace of fine arts so the location is pretty good for the first timer.
Our room was at the back so not that noisy, slept fine.
Underground parking too, access on Fillmore St and the elevator takes you up to your room.
Clean room and decorated in an older style which goes well with the hotel style and location, modern flat screen and large bathroom, all very clean and presentable.
Comfortable beds, we slept well with no disturbance from traffic etc and in room safe and modern air conditioner.
Wear comfortable shoes as the streets of San Francisco have the steepest hills I have ever seen in a city.
We would stay here again if we were driving to San Francisco, We would recommend
Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was quite musty and in a very noisy position. We could hear and feel the washing machine on at silly o'clock every day ! We were unable to access our room 3 days in a row as lock was broken and each time an engineer "mended" it to the point where one day even the cleaners couldn't get in !? The breakfast was ok - the staff were extremely busy keeping all the supplies topped up. The only problem was that there were not enough tables each morning. I read on other reviews that breakfast used to be served in the attached Chinese restaurant so maybe the room we used was temporary? Only reason I wouldn't recommend this hotel is that it was on the limit of where you could stay and still be able to walk if you have kids or walking diffuculties.
Way better than expected. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff was amazing! The location of the motel is right in the middle of everything. I am totally staying here next time I'm in town.
