For the treckers, a brisk walk along the Marina and Bay takes you to Fort Point right at the base of the Golden Gate, and for the truly adventurous another 30 minutes will deliver you up to the Golden Gate where you can walk the span and enjoy the majesty which is the Golden Gate Bridge and the seemingly limitless views of the San Francisco Bay. The opportunities to enjoy some of the best aspects of San Francisco are offered in the Marina District, and the Cow Hollow Inn is right at its center
The hotel was nice and the room was comfortable and clean.
There was no mini-fridge and there were only 2 small bath towels for showers.
The primary reason for the 3 star rating is that there was no wifi internet service in our room for the entire 4 days we were at the hotel.
Nowadays, with everyone using the internet and wifi, its not a "nice to have" but a "must have" feature. Almost as important as a shower in the bathroom.
The on site staff tried to get us connected, but they had very little knowledge and referred us to a contracted web support service, that was basically useless. After 2 days of constant complaining, I finally activated a mobile personal hotspot from my mobile phone in order to provide wifi to my kids and bluetooth access to my computer.
We were able to check in early... we were upgraded to a deluxe king. It just meant the room itself was more spacious. It is loud on the street so we asked for a room in the back. To be fair this location is on a very busy street. It was clean. there was a fridge but no microwave in the room. didn't bother us. the bed was comfy. there were plenty of pillows. The breakfast was either oatmeal or cheerios. Toast with butter and jelly. Red apples. coffee, milk, juice, tea and hot chocolate. For 109.00 a night in san francisco it was fair. There is an ihop and a mels diner on the same side of the street and walgreens on the corner. We were a stones throw away from the golden gate bridge. Also free parking...
all staff very friendly

We spent 5 days in San Francisco and really enjoyed our stay at the Joie de Vivre. Our room was nice and cheerful. The location worked for us because we are very active and able to walk the distances to Union Square, Crissy Field, Ghirardelli Square, etc. One of the best parts of our stay was the staff! We interacted with several individuals and they were all very helpful and fun! Oscar, in particular, helped us several times which we really appreciated.
Didn't have to wait too long at check in ... Staff knew what they are doing ..... Rooms do look a little tired, beds were very comfortable .... all in all this is a great hotel especially if you have a bay view room. Breakfast was a great way to set up the day (No bar or evening facilities except room service) .... 15 minutes easy walk to Fishermans Wharf ... A pleasant stay :)
