Hotel Unico is a little oasis located on a quiet street in the Salamanca neighborhood of Madrid. It was warm, welcoming and extremely clean. The superb staff was gracious and very helpful. This hotel was truly our home-away-from-home during our stay in Madrid.

"Couples visit for the weekend"
Hotel is lovely, on arrival you get to choose your room from a selection. Rooms are quirky and different to anything I have stayed in before. We chose a Zen room which was all black, it was great. Bathroom was lovely big shower and a huge bath, Bed is super comfy! The mini bar and room service are very expensive at the back of the hotel around a 5 min walk there is a mini-market. Breakfast wasn’t included and was 22 euros each which is crazy, we were there 2 nights which would of worked out at 88 euros (£66) you can get a lot more for your money if you travel into the centre. Hotel is a taxi ride to the centre of Madrid around 10 euros, you can catch public transport nearby but we didn’t bother, we did walk which took around 40 mins. All in all a lovely hotel and would defiantly visit again.

Hospes Puerta de Alcalá

Plaza de la Independencia 3, Madrid - Map

"Special anniversary treat, out of this world."
Well this hotel was the second one that I booked, having bypassed it initially as maybe being too pricey. However it was the best thing that could have happened when the first hotel told us their spa would be closed. That was our cue to pay the extra and go with this hotel. We had wanted a hotel with a lovely room, spa facilities, good location, for our special anniversary treat. And boy we certainly got that at Hospes Puerta de Alcala. The whole stay was amazing, the reception staff are wonderful, all of them, they went out of their way to say hello and we're always available to help. Check in was delightful, drinks on arrival and everything in room explained. Location on the Puerta de Alcala is great, thought room may be noisy overlooking this but not at all. Two doors onto balconies to watch the world go by. We were very fortunate to have great weather while we were in Madrid, sunny days, chilly evenings but would certainly go again at this time of year. Sat on the terrace for a meal on the first evening, great service, only negative was lack of wine list. However lovely wine and cocktails. Spent an afternoon in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna. I also took the opportunity to have the free welcome massage, and added it to an aroma massage. Very relaxing, just what I needed. Would recommend. Madrid is a great city and we will be back, didn't see another hotel anywhere on our travels that we would rather have stayed at. City tour is a must. Didn't want to come home.
