Briar Cottage is a good, basic comfortable house if you are holidaying with dogs and need a base from which to go out and do day trips. I am fairly new to holidaying with my dog but this had by far the best dog friendly secure garden I have stayed at so far which was very important to me. You have to shut the gates across the drive to make it secure. It’s not a cottage but a semi on a housing estate but the location is great for visiting places of interest and for practicality there are several convenience stores within a 10 minute walk and an excellent fish and chip shop (JR’S Yorkshire fish and chips) and a wonderful (and again secure) park to walk the dog very close by (Jacob Smith Park). We stayed there during a hot spell so I can’t comment on the heating but there was certainly plenty of hot water and being able to turn two of the double bedrooms into twin bedrooms was ideal as we were a group of 5 individuals and no couples. We did need to bring our own loo paper but there was plenty of washing up liquid and teaspoons (others had commented that these were lacking before). Also, as an electric car driver, there are charging points in Conyingham Hall car park in Knaresborough or other charging points around Harrogate (Sainsbury’s, Tesla supercharge at Weeeton’s, etc). I would definitely stay here again when holidaying with my dogs.

Lovely stay

Property was as described, clean and tidy. Great base for Harrogate and surrounding areas. Garden was very secure for dogs and child, also great parking for cars. Granddaughter loved the decor, especially the coconut tree in her room. Only downside are the beds, they need upgrading. They were ok for a couple of nights but would not have liked to sleep in them for longer, they all need renewing. Have said that we enjoyed our stay
