Overnight for business

Posted 22-Nov-2016
Pros: The staff
Cons: The deco
The staff were very good, attentive and good service all round. There was building work going on, so we didn't see it at its best. However it is needed as the hotel is very dated and not very inviting. Very acceptable breakfast.

friendly hotel in a good location.

Posted 14-Nov-2016
Pros: Clean, comfortable room and friendly staff
Cons: Nothing I didn`t like
Location: Seemed in a good location for central Watford and station. Was on a business trip, so did not eplore things to o nearby.
Staff were friendly and helpful, hotel was clean and comfortable, it was undergoing some refurbishment but this did not affect my stay. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Good breakfast with plenty of choice.

Fine for an overnight stay.

Posted 14-Nov-2016
Location: Near to the High Street where there are several places to eat.
Currently undergoing refurbishment but staff cheerfullness made up for the somewhat tired appearance at present. There was a first come first served car parking area at the rear of the hotel for some lucky guests, but not all. Good value English Breakfast. We stayed on a Saturday night and our only complaint was the loud selfish behaviour of some young female guests who woke us up in the early hours but this of course could have happened in any city centre hotel.

Unpleasant stay

Posted 14-Nov-2016
Pros: N.A
Cons: See above.
Our stay at this hotel was rather unpleasant. There were constant disturbances at night i.e. we could hear a lot of noise emanating from rooms above and around us. On several occasions, there was knocking on our door. There were no toiletries in the wash room. The hallway was small and rather cramped. Not one I would recommend to my friends.

Great Location for Watford, Harry Potter Tour

Posted 04-Nov-2016
Pros: It is ideally located for Harry Potter world and the town centre is a 10 minute walk. Staff are really helpful.
Location: Harry Potter world and the town centre are very close.
We booked this for it's proximity to the Harry Potter tour and Watford town centre. It is ideally located for both, as Harry Potter world is a 10 minute drive from the hotel and the town centre is a 10 minute walk. The hotel itself is nice, staff are friendly and will go the extra mile for you.

Great staff holding things together!

Posted 11-Oct-2016
Pros: Not much!
Cons: It needs a facelift - especially reception. First thing you see is a sign telling you the door doesn't work!
Location: A short taxi ride to Watford Junction.
I thought the hotel was shabby and a bit depressing, especially the public areas - reception, restaurant, corridors, lift. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. When some kids decided to hold a screaming, rowdy party in the room below me, the staff stopped it very quickly after I called reception, and then phoned me to apologise and to check that things were now peaceful. When they got my dinner order wrong, they only charged me for what I had originally ordered, not the huge (wrong) meal I ended up with. When the hairdryer in my room didn't work, they gave me two complimentary breakfasts. They did, however, phone me with a wakeup call on day 2 of my stay when I had only ordered a call for day one. Apart from that - the room was okay, bed was clean and comfortable. I think the staff deserve praise for working very hard to put things right and for being unfailingly pleasant and cheerful..

Didn't look quite as nice as the pic made out i felt. Could do with clear direction last to parking as called from outside the hotel to find out and was asked to park ok double yellow lines to come and find out. Parking, as it happens is just down a wall behind the hotel in the grounds of a car rental place. Room looked ok, may have needed a little work on the bathroom to remove mould etc. Floor boards are very noisy and walls seem paper thin as was kept up by some noisy people over the corridor. I asked a staff member to remind me if breakfast was included, I was advised it would be an additional charge, when I later checked it was included which I was a bit miffed about as she even looked on my room booking. Or so she made out. As it happens there was someone else on the computer later when I checked out so had no issues. Beds are not as good as prem in. No particular issue other than it felt/sounded like I was on a sheet to prevent me wetting the bed. I don't think I would rush back, but if u need a 1 nighter, it will do. Can't comment on food other than breakfast was reasonably good.
