"Nice hotel, lovely staff, right on the seafront"
Stayed in a triple room with a sea view for one night with my son. Hotel is nice, room was clean, bed comfy and breakfast plentiful! The pier directly opposite is being refurbished at the moment but will look lovely, and a retirement 'village' is being built next door, but we didn't hear a sound from the construction at all. Every member of staff that I interacted with had a smile and was polite and helpful. Would go back. Also, is within very easy walking distance of the D-Day Museum, the Royal Marines Museum (and probably many other things we just didn't come across!), obviously the pier once finished, and a somewhat longer walk to the Spinnaker and Dockyards etc. The only comment I would make is that parking on the surrounding roads at night, due to the amount of hotels, B&Bs etc, is very limited, so when you arrive and get a parking space in the hotel car park, leave your car in it and take a taxi if you are going into town.

"Fantastic weekend away, at Balmer Lawns!"
We arrived on the Friday afternoon, they let us check in at 2.30pm even though check in isn't until 3pm as our room was ready! The room was great, very clean and we brought our dog with us, they even provided a dog bowl and food mat for him- which we where very impressed with.. the whole weekend was just suburb, all the staff where great and nothing was to much trouble, they even let us have breakfast in the lounge area so that our dog could sit with us. We would defiantly go back!

"For a 3 star hotel it gives the impression of 4"
The hotel is currently undergoing an upgrade, which is being managed really well, and the upgraded rooms are 4 star (imho) All the staff were lovely, very helpful and cheerful. The pool although not deep is great for swimming in (there's a designated swimming lane) and the hot tub is fantastic! Can't fault the breakfast, everything you could want from Full English to Continental plus fruit, meats and cheeses, and eat as much as you like. I'm sure when the refurbished bar an restaurant are finished it will be superb!

Pocket Guide: Beach Hotels in Hampshire

With the M3 cutting straight through it and the M4 nearby, Hampshire is an easy county to get to. While it's probably most famous for being the home of Highclere Castle - which also doubles as TV's Downton Abbey - and the lush splendour of the New Forest, Hampshire has another ace up its sleeve in the form of some of the most fantastic beaches in England. Whether you're visiting in the sun-splashed summer months or in the fresh frosts of winter, a trip to a Hampshire beach is a must. Fortunately, there are a good number of beach hotels along the coast, ranging from relaxed, family-run guest houses, to chic and elegant establishments.

    Beach Hotels in Hampshire

If you're travelling with the family, finding a beach that offers everything you need to keep little ones entertained can be a bit of a bind. The beach at Barton on Sea ticks all the boxes. When the tide's in it looks little more than a stretch of stony coastline. However, at low tide, the sea pulls back its blue curtain to reveal golden sands. There are lifeguards on patrol, a children's play area and even a nearby restaurant. The Cliff House Hotel overlooks the beach and gives you easy access to clifftop walking and cycle trails. Rooms here are light and airy and many come with spectacular views across The Needles and The Solent.

    Hotels for Pleasure and Business

The Balmer Lawn Hotel is ideal for those who want to be able to spend some time on the sands, but have somewhere secluded to retire to at the end of the day. Set deep in the New Forest, this hotel is favoured by couples who want to steal some quality time together. However, with excellent conference facilities, you'll also find it a popular destination for businessmen attending meetings in sublime surroundings. These surroundings also have a definite appeal for those looking to tie the knot, as the Balmer Lawn Hotel is also a licensed wedding venue, with everything you could need to make your Big Day go smoothly.

Hampshire is a fascinating and beautiful county to visit, at any time of year. With a good number of beach hotels in the area, you can enjoy the best the coast has to offer.
