I rarely write reviews about holiday stays but had to do so for our three night stay at Grange Manor. The room was fabulous-luxurious,spotless and so comfortable and the extra finishing touches made it a home from home. Breakfast served every morning in the room was a delight. No noisy dining room nor rush to have table cleared away. All was at our pace which was what we wanted. A peaceful haven in a beautiful setting with the most friendly and helpful staff made this break first class. We...

Beautifully presented hotel in a peaceful and scenic location. The room was comfortable, nicely decorated and spotless.
There is plenty of choice for breakfast and everything we had was delicious, although it is a little bit restricting only being able to have breakfast between 8.30 and 9.15. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening but there are two pubs within easy walking distance to eat and drink at.
It's a great location for exploring Windermere and Coniston and there are some lovely walks...

Hard to access carpark on site. Very cramped entrance on a major slope and limited parking space. We were met on arrival after ringing doorbell by woman who wasn't very friendly. She asked us how we managed to get into reception as we apparently shouldn't have been able as door should have been locked or closed. (Dont see how that was our fault) Then she states if we turn up for breakfast there might not be a table available and would let us know when we could get one!? (Turned out not a...

We were greeted by Victor, very friendly and welcoming, who showed us to our room, a small double but very clean and perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. We had a lovely view of Todd Crag which we were climbing the next day.
Breakfast was amazing, a good selection of cereal, yoghurt, fruit and even cakes! My husband had the full English and I chose the smashed avocado on toast with poached egg. We were served by friendly and efficient Joanna who took the trouble to remember our names!

We stayed one night at the Victorian house as we had planned a last minute visit to the lakes due to particularly good weather forecast for this time of year.
The staff were very welcoming; the room was as described ‘cosy’ and furnished beautifully. The breakfast was of a high standard with plenty of choice.
We would definitely look to stay again, especially as it was such good value for money and right in the centre of the village.

The best area to stay in Grizebeck is directly within the village of Grizebeck itself, particularly around the A595 road, as it offers the most convenient access and local amenities.
Grizebeck is a small, quiet village located in the southern Lake District, primarily characterised by its rural setting and the A595 road which runs through it. The village is quite spread out, with a few local pubs and guesthouses dotted along or just off the main road. The surrounding landscape consists of rolling hills and farmland, providing a sense of peaceful seclusion.
Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find Grizebeck ideal. It's a superb base for exploring the less crowded parts of the Lake District, with direct access to scenic walks and drives. The local pubs offer an inviting space for an evening meal after a day of exploring.
For those planning to explore the wider Lake District and its coast, Grizebeck's location on the A595 makes it very practical.
When is the best time to go to Grizebeck?
The best time to go to Grizebeck is during the late spring and summer months, from May to September.
This period typically offers the most agreeable weather, with warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours, making it ideal for exploring the surrounding Lake District National Park. You'll find it easier to enjoy outdoor activities like hiking and cycling without the chill and shorter days of autumn and winter.
Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will appreciate the pleasant conditions for strolls through the countryside or enjoying scenic drives. The longer days allow for more leisurely exploration of nearby villages and natural beauty spots.
Families will also find this time of year most convenient, as the warmer weather makes outdoor adventures with children much more enjoyable.
