She asked us how we managed to get into reception as we apparently shouldn't have been able as door should have been locked or closed. Beautifully presented hotel in a peaceful and scenic location. The room was comfortable, nicely decorated and spotless.
There is plenty of choice for breakfast and everything we had was delicious, although it is a little bit restricting only being able to have breakfast between 8.30 and 9.15. We didn't eat in the hotel in the evening but there are two pubs within easy walking distance to eat and drink at.
It's a great location for exploring Windermere and Coniston and there are some lovely walks...

We had a 2 night stay in late August. The hotel although busy maintained a quiet environment. The grounds and gardens are gorgeous and difficult to tear oneself away from. Rooms are of a good standard but on our next visit I would ask for one with a lake view. Breakfast is good but the 4 course evening meal was outstanding (and good value for the quality) All the staff we encountered went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. All in all a genuine 5 star experience.

We have a double room, well sized with lots of storage. Bed was soft and good for a few nights with been uncomfortable. Ensuite was good as well and the showers hot. We stayed one night at the Victorian house as we had planned a last minute visit to the lakes due to particularly good weather forecast for this time of year.
The staff were very welcoming; the room was as described ‘cosy’ and furnished beautifully. The breakfast was of a high standard with plenty of choice.
We would definitely look to stay again, especially as it was such good value for money and right in the centre of the village.
