The staff are generally pleasant and the fireplace area in the lobby is lovely when you come in from the cold. The room was a nice size and the breakfast had good portion sizes. It's also nice to have a steam room / sauna on site after a long day of walking.
However, the hotel is in need of updating and our room was quite damaged by previous guests. There were holes in the walls / bath and the mattress was very comfortable. Rather than a double bed, it was two singles pushed together which you couldn't lie in the middle of.
The rooms were either cold or boiling as the heating was hot or off and the swimming pool was highly chlorinated, burning the eyes and inside of the nose.
The pictures online are very well taken.
There was also another little issue one night with a neighbouring room's dog who wouldn't stop barking. Not the hotel's fault, but worth considering if you are a light sleeper. If you are allergic to animals, please note that this hotel allows dogs. Not a problem for us (other than the barking), but we didn't realise before we arrived.
Sadly, we wouldn't stay again as it was too expensive for the room presentation and poor sleep quality.
