"Lovely place to stay and in a very good location. It has a lovely aesthetic and there was drinks and cake for guests waiting. I would leave a note for guests arriving early that they can leave their cars in the car park before check in as my partner kept going back to check with someone (anxiety) and there wasn't anyone around to ask.
We stayed in the stargazer room which was quite small but cozy. My biggest issue with the room was the bed is noted as king size but it seemed like a double at most to me which meant I slept badly as I need room to due circulation/nerve issues in my arms.
The view from the room was glorious, we stayed in the room in the evening and read while looking at the peaks. We couldn't see any stars due to clouds and I'm pretty sure there's a piece of the telescope missing, I may be wrong as I know nothing about them but there was no lens which I assume they need.
The staff were nice and breakfast was lovely. Everyone was helpful and ensured we had everything we needed. They all seemed to want to make the guests happy."
"What a brilliant hotel! It was such a surprising place - we had walked over from Patterdale to Shap so needed a lift to the hotel. It is 4 miles outside the village along a busy road. The hotel is run by such kind, helpful staff who took great care of us. Our room was great, spacious, clean and warm. Food is good, breakfast generous. Good atmosphere with plenty of friendly guests. Highly recommend."
"We booked this hotel for 3 nights. The location is beautiful but quite remote. No shops so a car is needed. A lovely bar/restaurant with helpful staff, an amazing menu. Harry at reception is so helpful . If going for a cruise or into Windermere there is a card for 20% off-available from reception. A model village in the grounds . The room we had was a bit quirky but that did not bother us. There is a swimming pool, small gym and massage therapy. Would highly recommend for a few days away."
