Wonderful people, good food, fun pub, clean room, quiet nights. What else can you ask for? Travelled with my husband and teen-aged daughter for a family holiday. Good location for exploring Stirling Castle and the Campsies.

"Nice hotel in outskirts of Glasgow"
Hotel was a mix match of old and new. Overall, the hotel was pleasant, rooms clean and comfortable with extra space. Breakfast room like being in a conference room not a lot of character, very corporate atmosphere.

"A break in Glasgow"
We booked two nights, with one dinner reservation, to take a couple of days away from the Scottish Borders at a time when we were not able to travel much. We therefore wanted a special hotel and dining experience. Malmaison looked architecturally interesting, though this is a bit of an illusion as only a small part has real character. The location is just a little further from walkable city centre spots of merit and the roads in Glasgow are a satnav nightmare due to endless works and changes, but we survived. Despite being midsummer, the hotel was extremely quiet and on the Saturday night we seemed to be one of only three tables dining. The bar was not busy either. Parking was no issue over the weekend, within yards of the hotel, and in fact it feels like a law and financial district which becomes a ghost town out of working hours. On the second night, we asked reception if there were any good pizza/Italian restaurants nearby, and were directed a fair walk to one which had clearly been closed down for some time. Fortunately we found a highly rated one (Gusto) which was half the distance and would have been a better recommendation. Overall it seemed we were in a rather expensive business hotel where you could impress a client, which has failed to become trendy as it's just not in the right place for any kind of 'passing trade' unlike the many places we know in Edinburgh.

Pocket Guide: Romantic Hotels in Glasgow

For travellers and couples looking for a romantic getaway, Scotland’s largest city offers an attractive combination of breathtaking Victorian architecture and a vibrant arts scene. Highlights include the dazzling Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, home to a vast array of themed galleries and the large modern concert venues in the Pacific Quay area. There’s no shortage of things to do in this energetic city.

    Something for Any Couple

With a lively social atmosphere and some of the best UK shopping outside London, Glasgow is a great place to book a weekend away. Hotels range from the hospitable and cosy to the positively hedonistic – there is something to suit any couple. The city is easy to navigate and well connected to other parts of the UK.

    Picturesque Walks

Glasgow has many charming parks and vistas for those looking to relax and slow down. A wander along the Great Western Road to the Botanic Gardens offers beautiful tree-lined avenues and several stunning glasshouses bursting with gorgeous plants and flowers. The garden’s Heritage Trail is a great way to fill a sunny afternoon.

For a busier walk taking in some of Glasgow’s beautiful historic architecture, as well some shopping, take Glasgow’s subway ‘the clockwork orange’ to the George Square area. This area is close to prime shopping spots such as Buchanan Street and Merchant City.
