"Uber cool"
The Citizen M Hotel is very modern and funky. Self check in great idea. Rooms are small but adequate. The bed is HUGE and extremely comfortable however as tucked up against the window wall need to climb over your buddy to get up. Everything controlled by a very clever ipad...TV , blinds , lights ,wake up call and the fantastic colourful mood lighting. The room would not be to everyone's taste...no privacy in loo!!, only suitable for a few nights stay as no wasdrobe as such/only a few coat hangers...needs another mirror, tea/coffee making facilities,a wee mini bar perhaps.Staff are fantastic. ..Soooo friendly and helpful as were all the people we met in Glasgow. Brilliant time was had.

"A break in Glasgow"
We booked two nights, with one dinner reservation, to take a couple of days away from the Scottish Borders at a time when we were not able to travel much. We therefore wanted a special hotel and dining experience. Malmaison looked architecturally interesting, though this is a bit of an illusion as only a small part has real character. The location is just a little further from walkable city centre spots of merit and the roads in Glasgow are a satnav nightmare due to endless works and changes, but we survived. Despite being midsummer, the hotel was extremely quiet and on the Saturday night we seemed to be one of only three tables dining. The bar was not busy either. Parking was no issue over the weekend, within yards of the hotel, and in fact it feels like a law and financial district which becomes a ghost town out of working hours. On the second night, we asked reception if there were any good pizza/Italian restaurants nearby, and were directed a fair walk to one which had clearly been closed down for some time. Fortunately we found a highly rated one (Gusto) which was half the distance and would have been a better recommendation. Overall it seemed we were in a rather expensive business hotel where you could impress a client, which has failed to become trendy as it's just not in the right place for any kind of 'passing trade' unlike the many places we know in Edinburgh.

"Nice comfortable hotel"
Staff very accommodating and friendly. Helped us book dinner reservations at a top-notch restaurant nearby. Hotel restaurant has very good food. Daily breakfast (which was included in our hotel rate) was also excellent. Rooms are nicely appointed but not very functional. Rooms are done in a minimalist and modern art style which is great for younger guests. For older guests like me (with decreased mobility), tub was difficult to get in and out of. Shower is in a square shape and a bit small for larger guests. Spa has extensive facilities. Water in Vitality Pool was a bit cool. Otherwise, very good hotel for a stay in Glasgow near the main shopping area. Best feature of hotel is their staff; very helpful and welcoming.
