Find out more about Elham

Elham and its attractions for beach lovers

While Elham itself is a charming village nestled in the Kent countryside, it does not feature a beach within its immediate vicinity. However, just a short drive away, you can explore the stunning coastline of Folkestone, approximately 10 miles to the south, where you'll find the picturesque Sandgate Beach. This sandy stretch is perfect for families, offering safe swimming areas, beach huts, and delightful cafes for a relaxed seaside lunch. Additionally, the vibrant town of Whitstable, known for its colourful beach huts and fresh seafood, is about a 20-mile drive and provides opportunities for water sports like kayaking and paddleboarding. For those interested in history, the nearby Dover Castle overlooks the harbour and offers tours that take you through its fascinating past. As you plan your stay, consider booking a hotel in Folkestone, where you can enjoy coastal views, fine dining, and quick access to the beach. Experience the blend of countryside charm in Elham with the sandy shores just a short journey away, making it a perfect base for an adventure-filled family getaway.

Top Elham Hotel Reviews

Grand Burstin Hotel Folkestone

Grand Burstin Hotel Folkestone

8/10 Good
"Pros: The room was very clean and had all the bits and bobs you need ( hair dryer, fan, iron, tea making stuff, tv and a fridge). The hotel also provided a travel cot for our baby. The room had a great sea view. The hotel it self is interesting, a bit run down and rough round the edges. There was live entertainment in the “ballroom” every night, which was cringy in an amusing way. The location is excellent. The room price was very reasonable (mid week). It is a budget hotel not a luxury one. Negatives: the front desk is very understaffed, we wanted to extend our stay and had to queue at reception, only to then be told we had to book via a phone attached to the wall. When we used the phone we were quoted £10 more than hotels.com. We then had to queue for another 20mins to get new key cards. There was only 1 receptionist for a hotel with hundreds of rooms. The pool was pleasant enough but you have to pay £4 each every single time you use it (even as a paying guest at the hotel). I think that’s a bit cheeky and I’ve never experienced that in a hotel before. They could at least add a single charge to your room for a pool pass instead. We didn’t have breakfast as I thought it was a little over priced. Over all we enjoyed staying there and will definitely be returning."

"Lovely hotel by the beach. Very friendly staff. We were unexpectedly given a room upgrade which was lovely. The room was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. We used the pool and Spa facilities which we really enjoyed. Would definitely recommend the hotel and we would certainly stay again 😊"

"We stayed at the Burlington for only one night but had an excellent experience. The staff was extremely helpful. We ate at the hotel restaurant and had a lovely dinner. The location worked out well for our remaining plans although we wish we'd had time to explore the town."
