"The outdoor bar Gin and Juice was a tropical paradise with fun cocktails and a lovely garden setting. The Japanese restaurant was also excellent. Staff were very friendly and our room was large and beautifully appointed. We'll plan a trip to Cheltenham just to stay in the hotel again!"

"Stayed for one night in a spotlessly clean modern bedroom in this very old hotel. The only things that let it down were lack of private parking, a very small en-suite and no hand soap. "

"The service was great and the locationanazing. The walls however were very thin and we could hear all the noise from the pub and the kitchen downstairs in the morning. Also there was an emergency exit light in the room which was very large and therefore it lit the whole room up and disturbed our sleep. "

"A lovely 1 night stay at The Lion. Just me and my dog - they are very welcoming to dogs. Room was clean and warm with good quality toiletries and tea/coffee. Bed was very comfortable. I had dinner in the evening which was excellent. The dining area had a friendly, lively atmosphre and the pub in general is a perfect old-style place with good beers on tap but also a gastro-pub style menu and wine list. Breakfast in the morning was also just as you would want it - I had the full English which set...

"I was late arriving and almost missed dinner! But I had a wonderful evening meal and wonderful breakfast in a quiet comfortable lodging after a long walking day."

"No problem until 10.30,the bar shut but to be honest,the poor guy that run the bar was a one man band. He did the bar and he and his wife did breakfast,so I forgive him for his grumpy face."

"I had a nice bedroom but THE FIRE EXIT FOR THE BUILDING WAS THROUGH MY BEDROOM!!!!! and I found it very uncomfortable knowing that anyone COULD ENTER MY ROOM (while I was asleep!) BY BREAKING THE PLASTIC COVER ON THE DOOR HANDLE OUTSIDE IN THE CORRIDOR!! "

"The hotel is easy to find, great parking, ability to eat at the hotel and sit in a nice beer garden. If you have mobility issues make sure you request ground floor room as there are lots of stairs and long corridors. I stayed in a deluxe room which was advertised as bigger than average. Overall pleasing colour decor. Tea, coffee , water . Now to be picky - the mattresses on the single beds pushed together to represent a" king size bed " need replacing . The shower area needs to be bleached....

"Roy was the manager on duty when we checked in and out. He helped carry one of our suitcases to our suite! He was awesome and helped out with some local areas to dine and visit. The suite was excellent, slippers and a robe waited our arrival, along with coffee, hot chocolate, tea and milk. Was very clean and a comfortable kind size bed. We loved it."

"Great communication and a room upgrade which was a pleasant surprise. Well appointed, stylish room with comfy bed, a powerful shower and nice tea, coffee and biscuits. An eye mask and ear plugs were supplied as the only down side is there is noise from the street. The windows are sash and I expect can’t be double glazed. Probably not an issue unless you’re a light sleeper."
