Having stayed in Doubletree hotels before we thought it would be higher quality than other lower-priced options. Plus we wanted a hotel with a pool. The pool was great, good changing facilities. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, friendly staff. Bedroom was comfortable and well equipped. There was a little noise from the corridor and from adjoining rooms and from a terrace outside, very quiet overnight though so we slept well. Very small shower room but workable. The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness. The room wasn’t that clean, dust in areas, wardrobe drawers had debris in them, hairs on the bedding. The curtains, food menu, phone notepad had weird brown smudges on them (chocolate/makeup?). Two days in a row at breakfast we were served tea in dirty teacups - fortunately there are spare mugs etc at the buffet so we just remade them ourselves. The rooms are tired and need a general renovation. We tried to phone reception a couple of times, gave up the first time, it took minutes for them to answer the second. Perhaps a little understaffed? An okay stay overall but not sure it was the best value for money.
