This hotel was built in 1892 and housed people going up to the Yukon territory. It's a great historical experience. My room on the first floor of the main building had brick walls. The room itself was up to date and clean. I enjoyed the experience.
I stayed here a few nights to be close to a work office in Gastown. The hotel and room was perfect for my needs. Only $60 a night during off season. Very comfortable bed. Nice bathroom. Spent an hour soaking in the tub.
This hotel is right in the city/shopping area. It's only a 15 minute walk to Stanley Park, and 10 minutes or so to English Bay Beach, where there are numerous places to eat. There is a bus line just down the street from the hotel, which will take you to Capilano Suspension Bridge for free. The wifi was very sketchy for me, but worked ok for my friend. The room that we were in was reasonably sized and had a kitchenette. The window backed on to a car park, so it was quite noisy and the room was constantly lit up by the lights from the car park at night (better blinds/curtains are definitely required). Overall, had a pleasant stay here and was central to most places we wanted to check out.
The hotel is quite old but it shouldn't matter if you're a tourist since you just need a place to crash. This hotel is in downtown and close to major vancouver attractions. Stanley park is a few blocks down. Granville is a few minutes away and gastown is nearby as well. I enjoyed my stay. Room is comfortable and the staff is nice.
We were away for a quick 2-night from southern California. The place was centrally located. Room was smaller, but clean and with a great view. A bit of street noise, even on the 8th floor, but it did not bother us. Close to downtown without paying premium downtown rates. Would definitely recommend. Was a little perturbed that we had to pay $20 a night for underground parking, but that is actually on the low side for downtown Vancouver.
Downtown Vancouver sits on a peninsula bordered by Burrard Inlet, English Bay, and False Creek. Attractions include GM Place, home of the Vancouver Canucks hockey team; BC Place football stadium, home of the BC Lions football team; and Canada Place, the city's waterfront convention center and cruise-ship terminal. Visitors also enjoy browsing eclectic shops on Gastown’s cobble-stone streets.
