A very warm welcome by staff.

Posted 19-Apr-2018
We arrived late in the evening after a daunting journey; our SAT NAV took us over the mountain and through the fog. We were so relieved to arrive at Irton Hall. Unfortunately the restaurant had closed but we were offered a cooked meal especially prepared just for us. Beyond our expectations! The daffodils and primroses were out in full bloom in the extensive grounds. We saw two peacocks and one worryingly displayed himself to the various chickens on site. Three pigs in the near by field, two were snoring. Now I know why people say about their husbands .... 'he snores like a pig! Tee hee

Would come back.

Beautiful Hotel in it's own grounds. Staff, of which there did not seem to be many, where helpful and friendly. The room was a good size with the usual facilities, fridge was 'hidden' in the wardrobe, complimentary water was appreciated. Lovely spa type bath and shower in the roomy bathroom. There was a few areas that need freshening but nothing that would put me off. The restaurant menu featured locally produced fayre but all a bit to 'fancy' for my palette. We drove to a near-by pub so plenty of options locally. Breakfast provided a good selection, but no Blackpudding ! Yes would hopefully return.

Got checked in by a kind young man quickly and efficiantly. Beds are really compfy and had a great night sleep. Internet is good and breakfast has a good choice also. Good strong coffee available but also tea. Had dinner every night and the food was tasty and fresh.

Lovely hotel, lovely grounds

Posted 31-Mar-2018
Stayed at this hotel overnight for a little break away. Couldn't fault it, very clean and rooms very comfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Grounds were lovely and peaceful. There were peacocks and geese wandering about the grounds which was lovely to see. Breakfast in the hall was nice with plenty of space, night very food and lovely views. It's out of town but about a mile a way from the local pub and within easy driving range of some beautiful lakes. Great place for couples.

Great place to stay with your dog

Posted 18-Feb-2018
Booked last minute, standard double room with a kingsize bed, jacuzzi bath and breakfast included. Friendly hotel staff, we had 2 dogs that were accommodated without charge. Food was good value, good choice of ale and a great choice in breakfast. Dogs allowed in main pub area where you can eat or there is a separate restaurant area if you prefer to be without them. Ideal place to stay if you want to explore the Ravenglass Wasdale area. Great value for money £49 bed & breakfast for 2 with 2 dogs.

We’ve stayed here in a family room. The place was clean and the building was well maintained. Dinner wasn’t to our standards.

Good b&b

Poshest b&b ever. Beds comfy and very quiet. Bathroom could do with an update. Food great, drinks good prices they could rip you off as in middle of nowhere but they don’t. Nice grounds with peacocks walking around. All in all lovely stay and bargain at £42.

Relaxing, quiet location.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the weekend with our 2 children aged 8 and 4. The hotel is modern and clean, rooms are very spacious and the jucuzzi bath a pleasant surprise which the kids loved! Staff were friendly and the food lovely and tasty with a good selection available on the menu and from the special board. The location was quiet and tranquil; bliss! We would definitely return, it was a lovely weekend break.

Nice hotel for bed and breakfast

Posted 01-Jan-2018
Pros: Large room with king-sized bed and huge bathroom (rm 12)
Cons: Evening meals, particularly desserts (apple crumble just has granola sprinkled on top!)
Location: Close to Ravenglass and Wasdale which are good for walking.
Large comfortable room with huge bathroom and king-sized beds. Breakfasts good with plenty of choice. We were disappointed by the evening meals, however, especially on New Years eve when my Husbands meal was burnt on top and the cook refused to change it.
