Britannia Hotel Coventry
6/10 Okay
"The location is very central. Few minutes walk to the transport museum, cathedral and shops. About 15 minute walk from the station. The hotel lobby, reception, lifts, corridors etc were all clean. The room was very clean and spacious. Only dirty thing was the outside of the windows which were filthy. I didn’t use the bar or eat in the restaurant. There’s plenty of places to eat out or get a takeaway on the doorstep and a big Sainsbury’s on the corner. I was out all day so I ate wherever I was and just bought a meal deal from the supermarket for the evening. I arrived early and was able to drop my case off which was tagged and locked in a room. So I was able to go and explore without dragging it around which was good. Staff were fine, not overly jolly like some hotels but let’s face it that’s just acting and anyway I wasn’t trying to make friends with them! They did their job so that was fine with me. They do ask for photo ID, I had my driving licence so no problem. I travelled by train, the hotel is on a busy road so I don’t know where you’d park if you drove. I read the reviews after I’d booked and was a bit concerned but I can honestly say everything was fine as far as I was concerned. I wasn’t looking for luxury, it’s a fair price for a good location, everywhere was clean and tidy, nothing fancy but nothing wrong with it either. If you just want a clean central place to stay that close to all the main attraction it’s a good choice. Don’t be put off by others reviews."

Ramada Hotel & Suites by Wyndham Coventry
10/10 Excellent
"Zsolt at reception was so helpful and made checking in fast and easy. The room on the 14th floor had fantastic views. The bed was so comfortable and the air conditioning was amazing on a 32 degree day. The breakfast was well worth the extra."

"The room was a good size with a bath. Only 1 pillow each which was very flat so the next day I asked at reception if I could have another two pillows to be told no they only have enough for two pillows in each room so I said I’m sure not every room is booked out can you please sort 2 pillows she said she will have a word with housekeeping and get them sent up. They never turned up. Also I only drink tapwater with a lot of ice my husband drinks Coke with no ice. I asked for a pint glass with just ice because it was hot, so it would melt quickly. To be told no, she is saving that for people who buy drinks I said I’m buying a can of Coke as well and her answer was your husband doesn’t want Ice with that. Because of the staff, I would not stay here again."

Doubletree by Hilton Coventry

"Our stay was fine, and it was great to stay in a hotel with a pool. The location was good and easy to find. The staff were pleasant but perhaps not as knowledgeable or skilled as they should be- eg didn’t know what was on the children’s menu )they didn’t have any printed) and then brought her a different dinner, having to repeat our orders as they had forgotten. Male staff in the gym could have been more polite. On both days there were no towels available and it seemed to put them out that they had to find us some. Plenty of parking but this is charged at £10 a night, which for a private car park for the hotel seems a lot to charge guests. Our room was fine, but the adjoining family room didn’t have any drawers or wardrobes (spare bedding in drawers) and no light but a lamp in the corner. The air con controls were set in both rooms and couldn’t be changed, but were very noisy when they fired up- enough to wake you. pool good, although decor could do with updating as is tired, not many keys available for the lockers. Sauna and steam was good. Jacuzzi was just an adjoining circle to the pool with bubbles, rather than a hot tub. Food was decent;dinner menu better than quality and range available for breakfast. Eggs other than scrambled had to be ordered when a waiter/chef was available. No mushrooms, sausages and bacon were ok but not particularly tasty. No pancakes or fresh bread other than presliced for toast. Coffee from a machine was fine. Ok but not a great Hilton"

"Great location to get to our evening venue. Parking was a short walk away and very reasonably priced. Check in was easy and pleasant staff. We booked a big double room and was very impressed with everything. It wasn't noisy overnight. Breakfast was very comprehensive and great selection. Thank you for a great visit."

"Staff were lovely, the room was clean and well appointed. Breakfast unfortunately was disappointing and I personally could not eat it, however others might find it ok."

Royal Court Hotel

"Outdated and dirty. Unhelpful staff. Food basic and horrible. Avoid like a plague"

Village Hotel Coventry

"First visit to a Village Hotel, really good. Very clean and comfortable. Room needed air con though"

Coombe Abbey Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"All the hotel staff we encountered were friendly and helpful from arrival to departure which made for an enjoyable stay. Our room was a good size with a four poster bed and a nice view to the front of the property. The hotel public areas looked great and were well kept. Food and drink prices in the hotel and grounds a little on the high side."
