The staff at The Rose and Crown are some of the friendliest I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. We were down for a wedding, and they were incredibly accommodating and welcoming.
The room was clean and quiet, and breakfast was cooked fresh. The village is small, and bit out of the way, but offers excellent walking trails.

Lovely stay, food was fantastic. Both evening meal and breakfast was devine. Room was beautiful and immaculate.
Great castle with lots of history, we did the castle tour that they do every morning which we thought was a lovely touch.

Lived like a Lord of the Manor for 3 days. I grew to love the place and friendly service. A nice relaxing break together with really good food in Library Restaurant. Well worth the extra cost.

Lovely hotel in a lovely location. Large room all the facilities were first class, free use of sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, etc which made the stay even more enjoyable. Will definitely be returning 👍

Generally we liked everything, though lots of items, the bathroom for example was what we would call 'tatty' doubtless because you have been closed due to Covid for lengthy periods this year and last. Thus repainting has not been able to be done. Sleeping was good, not least because Elizabeth was able to have sheets and blankets rather than a duvet.....exactly as we requested in fact. Good. But we loved being there and the setting is wonderful. You may indeed suffer the doubtful pleasure of...

A characterful village inn hotel, recently refurbished by the owners. Very friendly, relaxed welcome and service from Kayleigh & Marcus and all their staff. Room had a lovely view through the village and towards the hillside. Well appointed and very tastefully decorated ensuite room too. The bar itself is busy with a good selection and found everyone to be very friendly both in the bar and in general around the village, no-one passes you without saying "good morning". In short, very enjoyable...

Lovely room and bed very comfortable. I hadn't realised there was a pool so can't comment on that but it looked very clean and quiet.
Very close to metro centre so ideal if that's what you are there for. Taxi to Quayside cost around £14 one way

My husband and I stayed overnight and what a pleasant night it was.
We were greeted with the friendly lady at the check in desk who arranged a booking in the restrurant, the room was cosy and very clean and the bed was really comfortable. The hotel itself is beautiful both inside and out.
Our meal at The Stables was delicious and our waiter was so helpful and super friendly, he even told us about the history of the hotel as we'd said we'd been to the Beamish Museum earlier that day and he...

Room was spacious and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was okay - the full English I felt was a bit small for what I paid but other hot options looked pretty good - would consider that next time and the continental breakfast was good. Staff were lovely.
