Lovely accommodation and pool is a real plus . This was our 2 nd visit but this time I felt dinner was rather expensive and if it is a set price it had an awful lot of e tra costs added on .

Cleveland in the North-East of England is popular with families and couples wanting to enjoy a relaxing seaside holiday, but also with active types. As a gateway to the North Yorkshire Moors, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor pursuits here, and an array of hotels with health and fitness facilities to choose from. A wide range of chain hotels throughout Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees also offer gym and swimming facilities, as well as some independent hotels in Hartlepool.
Since it's rare to find hotels with outdoor pools in the UK, your best bet is a hotel in Cleveland with an indoor pool. You'll find that many chain hotels in the area with indoor pools also have other leisure facilities such as fitness centres, saunas and spa tubs. So you can stay fit on your break or relax and de-stress in the sauna after a day of shopping and sightseeing. Many hotels also have business facilities such as meeting rooms, so if you're travelling on business, a chain hotel here could be a good choice. Smaller independent hotels with pools generally have less in the way of leisure amenities, but are generally within walking distance of local facilities such as gyms and leisure centres.
Cleveland is a great place to enjoy an active break, and if you're bored of the gym and pool at your hotel, you'll find there's plenty here for all ages. The surf school at Saltburn-by-the-Sea is popular with all ages and abilities; and they say the surf here is the best outside Cornwall. Or why not try white water rafting at Tees Barrage? The Cleveland Way runs through the area too - it's a 109-mile walking route from Helmsley, across the North York Moors, and poses quite a challenge, even for experienced ramblers. For something a little less labouring, you could always give rally driving a go at the Epic Motorsports Park in Redcar.
Four-star hotels with pools generally provide other luxurious amenities for guests, such as 24-hour room service, great if you've had a busy day, and free WiFi and a minibar in guest rooms, so you can stay connected and share your holiday photos on social media.
