The staff was very attentive and efficient. The seafood buffet was one of the best I have ever experienced. I wrote a complimentary note to the Hotel General Manager, Ms. Cecilia Lim and got an instant acknowledgement. I will definitely stay at this hotel again soon.
A lovely hotel with unique rooms and atmosphere, but . . . our first room (with balcony) fronted the busy street leading to Club Street. A sleepless night from the noise, street lights and 3am garbage trucks. However, we were next to the jacuzzi (which was out of order). After requesting a move we relocated to the extreme opposite end of the hotel to a beautifully quiet room. Heaven, but . . . come midnight Sunday the construction site adjacent started up. We had ear plugs so that worked. Rooftop bar was unbelievably expensive. Many other options nearby. We loved the hotel and staff and would stay again, but don't forget the ear plugs.

As a couple, we stayed three nights at this hotel.
Although we wanted a hotel within 5 minutes walking distance to the MRT or shops, we were still quite satisfied with the reliable shuttle service to the MRT. It would be about 12 to 14 minutes walk to the nearest MRT if we know how to take the shortest route, which would involve taking a staircase up or down the hill to or from the hotel. China town is about 10 to 15 minutes walk from this MRT.
Hotel staff were helpful and amiable.
The Green room was clean and comfortable. Facilities were of 4 star quality, although we would have liked a microwave oven (which was not supplied) for heating some food which we bought from the city.
We had some trouble phoning through the room phone to our local contacts and had to go through the desk staff to get the connections. Later the operator had this resolved. There was only ONE chair in the room, but when we requested for an additional stool, it was promptly supplied.
Good location. Convenient for getting to various transportations. Room small but clean. Lack of hooks to hang things. Cloth hanger falls from the rod all the time, not very functional. Noise level high when other guests opening/closing door and/or walking in the hallway. No street noise. This is a very old building, so don't expect too much. I would recommend this place for anyone on budget.

we were given a room when we first arrived that was not suitable for two people, was more like a single room and not a twin, how ever the staff were to change us to a double room.
The staff were very friendly and helpfull also excellent local knowledge that they were happy to pass on.
The staff were lovely and the room (So Urban, Heritage Wing) was just beautiful - as was the rest of the hotel. Very comfortable and spacious room with a very comfy bed. We did expect a little more at breakfast (in comparison to stays in hotels of a similar standard) - but it was still quite ok. All in all we had a great stay and would definitely stay here again and recommend Sofitel So to our friends.
Thank you to the great staff!

Chinatown is a maze of streets packed with colorful pre-war shophouses selling bric-a-brac, clothing, antiques and Chinese herbs. Expect good bargains along Tengganu, Temple, and Pagoda Streets, and the best food on Smith Street. The big malls are located along New Bridge Road. Visit Chinatown Heritage Center, see the ornamental Sri Mariamman Hindu temple, or hop on a trishaw for a tour.
