Hotel is well located with a very good shopping mall opposite - City Square Mall which has great eating places, supermarket, pharmacy etc. Also MRT - Farrer Park in the mall. The MRT line is excellent as the north east line goes to many of the site seeing destination.
Hotel is aged however and bathrooms need a make over.
Mostly it works fine and is reasonable value in Singapore which is expensive for hotels generally.
The hotel caters to Indian family groups very well but this can also be somewhat chaotic at times.
the pool seems to open and close fairly erratically due to inclement weather. Understand the need to close in thunderstorms but small rain showers too? and then not open unless requested - just badly run.
Beds are fairly hard but this is not unusual in Asia.

The hotel is within the walking distance to Serangoon road, and other eateries. If you are planning your activities around these type of shopping (Indian stuff, or Arab stuff), its a convenient location. You can actually walk to places. Foodwise you have good options. Staff are really nice. You will find a little bit Sub-continental mentality of basically not trusting you, but that's ok. They probably get a lot of people who cheats them in some way. For example, when you go for breakfast, they basically hound you and keep you under their eyes until you sign the check. Never happens in USA, for example. A bit annoying. But its ok.
Great hotel, room was huge and spotless, great facilities including pool and spa. Free snacks and drinks daily was a lovely touch. Breakfast was great, lots of choice. All staff were amazing. Location in Little India not as central as some hotels but MRT station only a few metres away for easy access around Singapore.

Little India is a gathering place for the working-class Indian community, foodies, and bargain-hunters. The Tekka wet market is worthy of a walk-through before reaching the main thoroughfare of Serangoon. Stop here for ethnic jewelry, silk saris, henna tattoos, tantalizing spices, and brassware. The 24-hour Mustafa Shopping Center is another must-see. Check out Racecourse Road for Northern and Southern Indian food.
