"Staff were lovely and helpful, breakfast was fantastic, spa was nice
Only negative, the corridor to our room had plates left outside the room for a while and created a smell at times
Other than that, I'd recommend it"

"The hotel is clean. Room very clean, a little small but had a fridge kettle and microwave. Good value for the price. We stayed for one night with no problems. 15 minutes walk to town. Was very hot so would recommend a fan. Definitely recommend as a budget friendly stay."

We have stayed at the Shendish a couple of times before since we regularly stay in this locality in order to visit relatives. We have always enjoyed the accommodation and the food has always been of excellent quality but we have had cause to complain in the past due to the service being rather too efficient and we would have preferred a slightly more relaxed approach in the dining room. This time, however, we were absolutely blown away by the change in atmosphere in the dining room and it really...

What a fabulous hotel. I am happy to highly recommend. Friendly, professional staff. Clean and well equipped room and spotless shower room with lovely towels. The food was a very high standard with plenty of choice for everyone. The bar entertainment on Friday night was excellent. The pool and spa facilities were 'the icing on the cake' ..clean warm pool big enough to have a good swim. Sauna, steam room and hot tub were also excellent. I was so pleased with this hotel. I am kind of reluctant to write this as I want to keep this little Gem a secret all for myself, but I have to share with you all what a wonderful place the Bel and Dragon is. Right from the start I was greeted by a roaring log fire and a friendly face at checkout, whilst being shown my room the complementary 10yr and 12yr old whiskeys for the guests to sample where pointed out.
The room was immaculate and decorated to a very fine finish.
The pub its self has a great vibe it was a Weds and...

The hotel is in a superb rural location and has a huge field alongside. The room we were given was on the ground floor with a door that gave direct access out to the field that was great for our dog. There are two disabled parking bays nearest the main entrance and reception with a ramp alongside to manage the kerb, however once you reach the main entrance there are two large steps to get into the building. I then found out that there is ramped access at the side through a fire door that only...

This is a unique and characteristic hotel with lots of history and amazing architecture. The scenery, gardens and the estate overall are simply gorgeous. The spa and the outdoor pool area is also very nice especially in good weather (it may be difficult to find a lounger when it is sunny though). The room I stayed in was nicely decorated with wood panellings and period furnitures; bed was very comfortable as well. However, if you love modern luxury, you may be disappointed with the rooms since...

We had a wonderful weekend, the sun was shining so the outdoor pool was a must. We opted for Collette's restaurant in the evening, the food was divine and attention and service first class. The grounds are amazing with lovely water features, plants and contemporary design ornaments. A great weekend in fab hotel.

The reception, breakfast and cleaning staff all did a good job. The aircon in the hotel was very effective which was great when it was so hot outside.
Plenty of parking, very convenient for access to attractions in the area, close to the river.
Very enjoyable visit.

Amazing stay, spotless room, lovely staff. Only feedback is that bottle of water should be free for each night of stay. £3.50 for bottled water on second night

The reception staff are excellent and set the tone for a great stay. We enjoyed our overnight stay and found the hotel to be extremely inviting and comfortable with the refurbishment to date being of a very high standard. There are works still going on to add further eateries, bedrooms and an outside courtyard area to the hotel which will create stunning facilities.

Our one night stay at the Compleat Angler was lovely. While the building and room could do with a bit of an update, the overall experience was lovely. The staff were friendly; the room was spacious with a very comfy bed; and the amenities were excellent.
