"Great central location, close to Imperial Palace"
Easy to get to from the station by bus and only a couple of minutes walk from subway. The Imperial palace and other local attractions are within walking distance. The staff were very friendly, spoke good English, the room was very comfortable and had all accoutrements, from complimenrary toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush to slippers and housecoat. We stayed two nights, had room service on the first night which was excellent! Our meal arrived within 15 minutes of our order, beautifully presented and tasted really nice. Breakfast was a large selection of both Japanese and western cuisine. Again, it tasted lovely and there was plenty of everything. We would thoroughly recommend staying here, we really enjoyed our stay.
Everything about this hotel was lovely. From the moment you walked in the door and saw the delightful waterfall in the lobby lounge to the attentiveness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Early check in- no problem. Tempura or wheat germ pillows and aromatherapy sleep aids were all swiftly produced in our spacious twin room. The bathroom was fully equipped and pleasant. We even had a view overlooking Nijo castle. The sound proofing was excellent. In the afternoons and evenings there were short classical musical concerts in the lobby lounge.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay here. The only downside is its location on the quiet west side of the city. The temples , restaurants and shopping areas are on the east, but 500¥ daily bus pass gets you around and the hotel have a frequent shuttle bus.
The hotel is a good location in the center of Kyoto. It is easy to access the bus system (the return bus drops you off right in front of the hotel. However, the sites in Kyoto are around the outside perimeter of the city, so it is a 20-30 bus (or two) ride to the temples. Or, a free hotel shuttle to the train station (then JR train to some temples).
Overall the quality of the hotel is good, and there are many guest services available.
