"We had a lovely stay at the Old Schoolhouse. Our room and bathroom were spacious. Our hosts had homemade treats for us each day (an oatmeal raisin cookie our first day and a piece of spice cake the next). Our breakfast was at a large table with the other guests. We loved talking to them, several of whom were walking the length of Hadrian's wall. The breakfast itself was delicious and generous. We would absolutely stay here again."

"Room was clean and tidy on arrival Staff went above and beyond very helpful nothing was to much Breakfast was amazing lots of choice whatever your taste and all the food that came out looked good liked the fact juice and pasties where available as well as tea/ coffee and toast. "Lovely and comfortable one night stay with a delicious breakfast. One star deducted as one of our rooms had a leak from the toilet which resulted in a very wet floor around the sink area. We didn't eat dinner at the pub as we were following up on a recommendation for The Duke of Cumberland in the next village, but we did pop in for drinks afterwards and enjoyed a quiz the barmaid had organised. It was also nice to see some local youths playing darts and enjoying themselves in the pub - it's rare to see 'kids' out these days and they were very polite too. All in all a lovely area and I'd consider going back in warmer weather to do some of the local walks."
