Great hotel in a central location

Posted 31-Jul-2017
The Falstaff is a great hotel in a central location in Canterbury. It has a chilled vibe in its lounge and bar area and an old world feel to the rooms. It is after all a 500 year old coaching inn. The staff are very helpful and polite and dealt with our request to switch rooms without any hesitation. The rooms are clean and tidy and have good quality beds. The only downside for us was that the noise from the cocktail bar could be heard in the background until midnight at the weekend. Not a major problem but worth considering when requesting a room. The cocktails in the bar were amazing and the place had a good feel about in the evening. Worth a visit if your heading to Canterbury even if only to get a drink and relax.

One night in Canterbury

Posted 08-Jul-2017
Pros: The Falstaff is in a great location within easy walking distance of everything you want to do in Canterbury.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: The Falstaff is very convientently located close to shopping, restaurants, pubs as well as the cathedral, which is amazing.
My wife and I really enjoyed Canterbury. This is a busy little city with an amazing cathedral and lots of small shop, pubs and restaurants.

Convenient and comfortable hotel in Canterbury

Posted 25-Jun-2017
When you book on line without having been to a place before, you can't be sure what it will be like. Falstaff Hotel was close to Canterbury West railway station; we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast was well done. Only drawback was that our window was right at street level, so there were some limitations on privacy, and daytime traffic noise was noticeable. Regardless, we would positively recommend the Falstaff.

Location good, everything else very average

Posted 25-May-2017
Pretty poor for the high price- cramped and outdated room, average breakfast. The place seems to be coasting on the fact it has a very good central location in a popular city.

Great location

Posted 21-May-2017
Woman was friendly for check in. Room was ok, I think they are in the middle of a remodel because the bathroom was brand new but the room had missing art on the walls and needed to be painted. That aside the bed was comfy so we were happy. Breakfast was awesome. Staff after check in were kind of rude. For some reason our dirty towels were hung back up after we threw them on the floor by the housekeeper. I thought the universal sign for requesting fresh towels was to place them on the floor so this was very troubling for me. If it is not their policy to provide clean towels when this occurs let me know and I wouldn't have placed them on the floor. I would have hung them up. I called the front desk and requested new towels and she seemed annoyed. We left to grab dinner and when we returned we received 4 hand towels instead of the requested hand towels. I tried to discuss with the woman at the front desk and she was very combative. Long story short, this hotel has a lot of potential if they can improve the friendliness of the staff and finish up the renovation which was also very noisy.

Lovely stay in Canterbury

Posted 18-May-2017
Pros: Location, room, cocktails, breakfast.
Location: Location right in the centre of Canterbury surrounded by lovely pubs and restaurants as well as the cathederal and other places of interest to visit.
Great surprise how wonderful the hotel was. We paid such a low price and we had a lovely room in the annexe. The bathroom had recently been refurbished to a very high standard. Large room in quiet location. A cooked breakfast and cold buffet was also included in the price. Had wonderful cocktails in the bar and the location was excellent, right in the centre surrounded by lovely pubs and restaurants. We were expecting a room in a pub but were delighted to discover this gem of a hotel. Looking forward to coming back for another stay and would highly recommend.
