It was just as I expected. It was not noisy at all (being so close to Times Square).
I booked a room with a bunk bed and it was as small as shown in the pictures so definitely as expected.

Wonderful stay here for 4 nights with husband and daughter. We had a ‘two doubles’ room, which had lovely comfortable beds and little kitchenette with full size fridge. We enjoyed a lovely complimentary breakfast each morning with fruit, pastries, bagels, yogurt and granola. On an evening we went up to the rooftop terrace with a bottle of wine and enjoyed the amazing views and sounds of the city - and the location is excellent, couple blocks from Time square but didn’t feel noisy or busy. I really appreciated this hotel being my base. The staff were phenomenally friendly, welcoming and helpful. That made a big difference to me as this was my first time in NY, on a ten day trip alone. A big adventure. The mattress was firm (very important) AND there were feather pillows. Close to travel and amenities. It’s listed as three star. I see it as four star. Very good value for money.

Our stay at Pod 39 was very enjoyable.
The hotel location is perfect. Quiet yet close to Grand Central, Chrysrel Building, Empire State and Times Square, lots of shop and eating out options nearby.
The hotel itself is in good condition. Its highlight is the rooftop. In the morning the bar is closed but you can still go there and eat breakfast & enjoy the views.
Downstairs they have another bar. In the morning there is a free coffee and tea and some breakfast options are available to buy like...

The hotel itself is clean and centrally located for NYC tourism in Times Sq. the staff are great, breakfast included was a good start to each day and the price we got through Expedia was a bargain. Be warned that there is a migrant shelter directly opposite the hotel which can be intimidating as large groups hang around outside - the hotel have a regular security guard and the NYPD are outside the shelter all the time.

Great location, good pricing, friendly staff. If your are looking for a comfortable and modern stay with just the basics then I don’t see any reason to complain about this hotel. A very useful option to avoid paying a fortune in the more opulent hotels. They kindly extended my checkout until 12pm for no extra charge.

My daughter and I had a trip to New York for our big birthdays, hotel was very central close to port authority, walking distance to time square and many other areas. Hotel staff made our visit special for us and are very helpful , friendly , professional and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. I would avoid 9th Avenue at night time as it didn’t feel very safe .

This is a fabulous hotel in a great location for pounding the streets of NYc. So close to Penn station.
On arrival I was told about all the amenities that were included with the fee and the water and cookies were great.
The rooms are small but that is NYC! Definitely be fine for 2 people. Great bathroom
The bed was so comfortable and I slept really well and didn’t hear any noise from the streets.
A great place to stay

Excellent location just four minutes’ walk from 9/11 Memorial Pools and Museum. Warm welcome from staff. Clean and comfortable room. Excellent bar area in the evening and efficient good value breakfast deli.

Wonderful hotel in a great location. Room was spacious and clean and the staff were lovely. It would benefit from a hotel bar but we very much appreciated the bottle of wine!

Very convenient location with a great view of Times Square from the window. Very clean and has the perfect amenities - good shampoo, conditioner and a steamer.
Comfy beds, great tv, nice atmosphere/decor.
Nowhere to put clothing/put away suitcase but as I was only staying a night this did not matter at all.

Such a great stay here. Right in midtown Manhattan in the heart of the action but at a really reasonable price. The room was small but immaculate. I requested a higher room with a view and the hotel did exactly that for us - the 21st floor with a beautiful view to wake up to. I would definitely recommend staying at CIVILIAN and I would definitely stay here again.

This was a great place to stay and explore New York! Extremely central mid-town location, next to a subway and walking distance from mid-town attractions. The rooms were huge for New York and well-appointed. The staff were a highlight, lovely and friendly, regardless of who was on shift. The character of the hotel was a decisive factor in choosing it over other chain brands and did not disappoint both in the lobby, and the rooms. The beds were comfy and the rooms were very clean.
