Village Hotel Bournemouth

8/10 Good

"Clean, nicely maintained with decent facilities. Food is limited but acceptable, somewhat overpriced but for the location, understandable. Nice Starbucks. I was surprised to have to pay for car parking as there was a lathe car park, nowhere near full. Breakfast was limited choice but good quality, quite acceptable. Nice Sauna and steam, pool is also good but wasn't accessible one night out of two. Note that the pool and its facilities close at 8pm during weekends, not 10pm as during the week."

"The hotel to me had a great feeling and the staff were professional and friendly. Parking was excellent. And location toward Westbourne was much better in my opinion as easy access to shops and lovely walk down The Avenue to front etc. lovely period side of the area. The hotel is a little dated and reflects a similar interior to other more traditional seaside hotels. Yes it needs some fresh sealant on baths and perhaps the squeaky floor boards need some work but the overall feel outweighed those bits. Some guests need to learn how to close a door quietly at 6am. I do think a walk round with a screwdriver would solve some really basic issues (and happy to elaborate off record). The pool was fine. I forgot to look at gardens which are i think one of largest a hotel has in Bournemouth area. And you could walk into bournemouth almost down through ‘bournemouth gardens’ which are actually lovely. Despite negatives the positives were great and thank you. May not be walkable to front for some but there were bus stops. Despite being near overpass it was actually really quiet. Food looked excellent but i didn’t eat as breakfast started too late at 8am for work and trips."

"Use this hotel for pre-cruises. Great location and not too far from the city HighStreet area, walking to the ferry or easy access for some great pub/eateries around the corner. Own eatery for breakfast is also quite good and there is the option of eating in the room with your own food if that is your preference. Disappointed this time as the eatery was closed down for the evening due to ??? Staff are very friendly and willing to help you when needed. See you next time when we are cruising out of Southampton !"

Sandbanks Hotel

"We stayed in a family room on the first floor which was spacious and clean with a sea view. The furnishing in general was adequate but quite dated. This was reflected throughout the hotel. The bath was rusty which meant we relied on the shower which was good. The balcony door wasn’t secure with a flimsy catch. The radiator although not used was very rusty in need of maintenance. The decoration in the public areas was better in general it felt like the hotel needed a refurb"
