A lovely stay at the Pembroke Arms. There was plenty of free parking to the rear of the Inn. Reception was efficient and friendly. Our room - two double beds so for four people - was large and comfortable with lovely touches like TeaPig teas and ground coffee. The room itself was quite cold but reception turned the heating up for us and it was a really cold day so no complaints.
We ate in the hotel that evening - a really nice restaurant and delicious (massive) pies.

Had a wonderful stay (4 nights in the Stables). The Inn is set in beautiful countryside, and I loved the quaintness of the building, lots of different areas to sit in to eat or have a drink, and a nice covered seating area outside.
The room was very comfortable, and the water pressure for the bath was great. Food was superb, the best I've had in a pub (a step above what I'd call 'pub food').

We stayed at the Chapter House for two nights (Friday and Saturday) as a base to visit Salisbury and the surrounding area and attend the Darkness into Light Advent Service at the cathedral on Saturday evening.
The hotel is perfectly located for exploring the town and just a few minutes' walk from the cathedral.
The staff were wonderful; friendly and attentive and happy to chat.

The Room in the Garden is a lovely space, it was clean, the large bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was spacious and great, especially in the hot weather. In the room was a coffee machine with coffee pods, tea and milk and a TV.
Outside was a lovely shaded patio where we enjoyed a welcome cup of tea when we arrived, and a freshly prepared, very tasty light breakfast the following morning.
The owners and their dog were very friendly and helpful, providing a fan to cope with the heat...

Our visit was just overnight. The location of Woodfalls Inn was perfect for us as we visited people/places in Southampton, Salisbury and Fordingbridge.
Perfect if you are visiting the New Forest.
Everything in the hotel felt new and pristine. The room was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good.
The price was very competitive compared to other places we looked at in the area.
Certainly one we will remember for when we are next down that way.

A lovely stay at The Three Lions, staff were friendly and helpful, food was amazing and the hot tub was so relaxing and private. We will be returning to The Three Lions again for sure, but next time for longer than just a night.

The best area to stay in Broad Chalke is within the village itself, particularly around The Causeway and South Street.
Broad Chalke is a small, traditional English village located in the Chalke Valley. The main part of the village is quite compact, with most amenities, including the local pub and village shop, located along or just off The Causeway. It's characterised by its flint and thatch cottages, a historic church, and the River Ebble running through it. The pace of life here is unhurried, offering a genuine taste of rural Wiltshire.
Couples looking for a tranquil escape will find the village centre an excellent choice. You're perfectly positioned for leisurely walks along the riverbanks or exploring the surrounding countryside footpaths. The local pub offers a welcoming spot for an evening meal, and the quiet setting is ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring Salisbury or Stonehenge, which are both a short drive away.
For families, staying within Broad Chalke provides a wonderful base for rural adventures. The village has a much-loved primary school and a recreation ground, offering open space for children. The surrounding area is rich with opportunities for outdoor activities, from cycling the quiet lanes to visiting nearby farm parks.
When is the best time to go to Broad Chalke?
The best time to visit Broad Chalke is during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is generally warm and pleasant, and the countryside is at its most inviting.
This period is superb for enjoying the outdoor activities and natural beauty of the Chalke Valley. The longer daylight hours mean you'll have ample time for walking, cycling, or simply exploring the village and its surroundings. Many local events and open garden schemes also take place during these months, offering a glimpse into village life.
Couples looking for a relaxing escape will find the summer ideal for romantic strolls through the rolling hills and along the River Ebble. There are plenty of opportunities for picnics in scenic spots or enjoying a quiet drink at a traditional country pub.
Families will also appreciate the summer for its suitability for outdoor adventures.
