"Fabulous hotel in Fitzrovia"
Visited London for business and pleasure for three days in April, and stayed at the Charlotte Street Hotel. This was my second time at this hotel. The facilities are immaculate. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, well designed, and a pleasure to stay in. The bathrooms are similarly well-proportioned and tasteful and everything functions as it should.

"Very nice place, but you must like it hot!"
My only problem with the Academy is that the whole hotel was heated to at least 25 degrees C, possibly even warmer in some parts. I'm from rural England, where a hot bedroom is practically unknown, so I had real problems sleeping. The air conditioning seemed to go off at night, which didn't help. That apart it's a lovely hotel, so if you're happy with tropical conditions I'd recommend it.

"We were 5 night 'speed tourists'. Location Rules!"
If you want to 'SEE LONDON' and don't know a lot, the LOCATION makes this the best possible choice. We got upgraded to room 101 (larger and bigger TV). US and other first-timers may struggle with some of the UK technnical strangenesses (on off switch on wired 220v plugs, thermostats, remotes, etc.) Just ask for help. The staff were flawless and really sincerely helpful with everything from arrival to depature. The Maple pastries from the on-premises shop provided breakfast on the go, along with fresh fruits from the very nearby Sainsbury Local store at a great price. Lots of nearby shopping, British Museum and restaurants. Took 2 days to master the Underground, but really fantastic way to get anywhere. Return to Heathrow is best by catching cab at the corner to Holborn Underground station, catch Picadilly line to Heathrow. We did it in 1.5 hrs for 17 pounds for two adults with large bags. The thought of taking surface transportation is insane with the traffic, delays, jams and construction (lots!).Leave 3 hrs from planned arrival at HLR to departure. It is HUGE! Security is polite but very thorough and takes a while, as does the inside train.

Pocket Guide: Bloomsbury, London Boutique Hotels

The fashionable residential district of Bloomsbury in central London, dotted with hushed Georgian garden squares, has drawn famous writers and philosophers through the centuries. Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury Set redefined the 20th-century novel here, and being the seat of the British Library and the British Museum, it was also where Charles Darwin formulated his historic theory of evolution.
